Around October of 1981 I was recommended to St.
Christopher's Hospital due to my short height. After a week of tests in
November, they discovered I had a pituitary tumor. Tumor was removed on December
17, 1981, and had subsequent radiation therapy. Doi g fine now, and I'm 6'1". I
was wondering if there was a group of us? Some sort of organized gathering, so
that we could talk about our concerns. Thanks

Thank you for this web site. I am 40 years old and have
been on thyroid medicene for 2 years. I also suffer depression and take prozac.
I have been lactating for a month now (am not pregnant). My thyroid level is
fine but my prolactin level is 61. I m scared because I have been having
frequent headaches, am excessively tired, body aches and sweat excessively. I
also have short memorary lapses, and very difficult concentrating. My appetite
is very low but I am not losing weight. I see an endocrinol gist in 2 weeks and
am hoping things get better.

My 18 year old daughter has a low TSH, .08, but all the
other blood tests, T-3 & T-4 came back within normal range. She is
overweight, lethargic, doesn't perspire much, gets colds all the time and is
depressed. She doubled her weight when she was 7 from 4 lbs to 80lbs in a year.
The physcian feels there is nothing wrong. I feel like my daughter is
Hypothyroid, but the thyroid tests do not suppoort this. My father had pituitary
tumors........any ideas anyone?
Comments:
My 12 yr old son has a non-secreting pituitary adenoma,
possibly a rathke's pouch cyst, and his growth hormone level is very low. I have
postponed surgery until we have some new tests as he has been having lots of
alternate healing and I believe surgery s ould be a last resort not a
first. Thanks for your page, it seems being able to help others in similar
situatiions is a big part of all this. It is good to know we are not alone.
Blessings on you,

Thank you, Duggan, for such a great site! It's a relief
to know that I'm not the only one suffering from pit-problems, and your strength
is so inspiring! I'm 28-years-old, and I too live in beautifully wet Portland,
OR. I was diagnosted with a 2cm X 1.6cm mass in the pituitary area in October
'99. Since my hormones levels are all normal except for slightly elevated
prolactin (60-80), they're suspecting I ave either a craniopharyngioma or a
non-functioning adenoma. Even so, my endocrinologist thought it would be wise to
try to shrink the thing with bromocriptine in case it's a poor-producing
prolactinoma. Well, my prolactin came down, but the drug gave me a doozy of a
headache, hellish nightmares, sleep paralysis, a mean disposition, and leg
cramps. Then I tried Dostinex, which gave me an even worse headache (on top of
the constant headache I have anyway!). So I've gone off the meds entirely and
will be h ving transsphenoidal surgery on March 15th. Oh, by the way Duggan, if
you ever find yourself on Kaiser insurance, a FANTASTIC endocrinologist is Dr.
Prihoda at Kaiser Sunnyside Hospital (down the street from Clackamas Town
Center). I wish you all the best!!
