The office personnel consists of:
Donald J. Boles MD.
Born 1953 in Chicago, Illinois. Medical family; father was ophthalmologist
and taught eye surgery at Northwestern University. His uncle is
John Boles MD., oral surgeon in Beverly in Chicago. On maternal side,
grandfather was general practioner in Lemont, Illinois, and his son,
Earl W. Cauldwell MD. was the neuropathologist at Northwestern University.
Married to Carolyn Barcus Boles, having met at Colgate University.
Lived in Central America (jungle adventures and war stories galore!!)
for 7 1/2 years. Earthquakes, civil wars, tidal waves, disease, vermin
and political intrique... Became a batallion surgeon for the Guatemalan army.
Worked inner-city ER and ICUs in Chicago. Did residency partly in
the building across the street from the "ER" TV show ER entrance.
Worked at GE plant for a summer before moving to Arizona.
Came to Phoenix by invitation of Colin Smart, MD. who needed a
bilingual doctor in Chandler. Dr. Boles started coming to the Sun Lakes
satellite clinic in 1987. Drs. Boles and Smart left the group in 1988 and
took the Sun Lakes clinic as their primary office. Dr. Boles moved into larger
facilities in an adjacent building in 1989, and Dr. Smart sold his
practice and left Sun Lakes.
Dr. Boles was elected Chairman of the Department of Medicine
and Family Practice at the Chandler Regional Hospital.
Dr. Boles is currently the medical director for Chandler Valley Hope,
a drug and alcohol detox facility.
Dr. Boles and Carolyn have two children.
Dr. Boles' passions are patient advocacy, music and computers.
Dr. Boles produces videos shown on Sun Lakes cable, COX in Phoenix and for medical education
purposes.
Office Personnel:
Doreen Payne: Office Manager. Doreen is sensible, sensitive and strong.
She is a wonderful mother and family person, and has a charming
personality for our patients. She understands MEDICARE financial
statements, which is a formidable skill, and can help our patients with
their billing problems. Doreen is a giving person who can help anyplace
in the office setting.
Besides raising two children who are both in full-time school, she had
been taking ASU courses to get her AZ license as a counselor. She
has returned to the work-force with the opening of her own
private practice in psychology. She has been working out of
our office in Sun Lakes for many years.
Hers is the first clinical counseling practice to open in Sun Lakes. She likes relationship counseling and anxiety disorders.
She also produces special videos subjects for Sun Lakes cable TV.
Carolyn Boles: Counselor.
Carolyn has worked behind the scenes
for years with doing the financial work: banking, accountants, shopping
for materials, and doing the staff hiring ,payroll and benefits.
