There's a lot of controversy regarding routine infant circumcision, but not much has been written about adult circumcision. I wasn't circumcised at birth, but had the procedure done several years ago. The results have been fantastic and I don't know why I waited so long.
I Grew up in a small New England town were most boys were not circumcised. The local doctor was against it. I didn't realize that this was unusual until I went to a private high school a few towns away, where I was one of the very few who was not circumcised. I was curious, but that was the extent for quite a while.
When I married, my wife and I began trading yeast infections (balanitis for me, vaginitis for her). The antifungal creams worked, but we were using them a lot and it impacted our sex lives far too much. The doctors indicated that "some men are just prone to balanitis". After a lot of discussions, I was circumcised at age 34. Truthfully, I had been wanting to get it done for years, but was too afraid/embarassed, so I avoided it until I couldn't.
The results were great. The infections stopped. Sex improved. My wife says she has noticed no difference before and after the circumcision. For me, sensation has, if anything, improved. the orgasms seem more intense with the tighter skin. In short, I have no regrets and I wish I had it done a lot sooner.
Curiously, I've noticed in the years since it was done, the skin has stretched and not anywhere near as tight anymore. When flaccid, the foreskin now bunches up behind the glans and can be pulled forward to cover most of the glans. I'm considering going back in to have more taken off and get it tighter once again.
I don't regret having the operation done. However, I also don't begrudge my parents or doctor for not circumcising me as a child. In hindsight, I would have preferred it, but they were just trying to do their best, just as I try to do as a parent- a sentiment the anti-circ crowd seems to forget.
