JIPMER is the medical college that made me a doctor and a surgeon. It ranks as one of the top 3 medical colleges in India, out of a total of about 150. Click here to read about this.
JIPMER stands for Jawaharlal Institute of Post-graduate Medical Education and Research, and is situated in Pondicherry.
Admission to JIPMER is purely on merit, based on a comprehensive entrance examination held once a year. About 15,000 hopefuls appear for the examination every year for about 60 vacancies.
JIPMER now has 2 websites -and you can visit the official website for admission and other information, or click here for Shyam's super alumni website.
The number of JIPMER alumni maintaining web pages is increasing. Click here to see the current list.

A few days ago (December 2000) I found a whole
load of black and white photographs taken at JIPMER in 1980 or 1981 - during an "event"
there. Click here if you want to see some
faces that are likely to be familiar to people from the late 60s to early 1980s period at JIPMER.
