The College Years ..... Again!

Well lets see... its been quite awhile since I've actually udated what's been happening with the genie!  Last bio I was looking to the future...Well I've found the road I needed to take (after some serious self butt kicking) and literally packed up and headed on down that road.

Over Memorial Day Weekend of 1997 I visisted Rainbow, RaynorShyne, SirDavid and Wildflower down in Texas...and on my flight home it finally dawned on me what I wanted to do with my life and what I needed to do to attain those dreams.  GO BACK TO SCHOOL!

So, with a dream and a plan in hand I checked out a few colleges around where I live and chose a small private university called Susquehanna University.   I chose the field of Information Systems to major in since I love computers, the internet and all this new emerging technology!

I packed up my things in Frackville and headed off to this small college town of Selinsgrove, PA, went to part time status at the pager store...picked up another part time job through the school, being a web technician for the Blough-Weis Library.

So my classes began *yikes!*, what and adjustment!   On my own, having to rescedule my time, and still needing to work to support myself has been a real challenge.  But so far... so good!  I have made it through my first two semesters...enjoying every minute...every experience that has gained me more knowledge and moved me one step closer to walking across that stage and receiving my Bachelor's Degree.

Well as people who know me, know that I'm really not one to sit still, when I see an opportunity to better myself, I jump right on it.   Thus, came the time to leave the Paging company and move onto something more in my field...... the internet!  I managed to secure a position with Sunlink, Inc. the local internet provider here in North East PA.

So my spring semester I worked for Sunlink and the library and of course my course.  In the meantime I was trying to secure an internship for the summer.  I happened to go to the Lebanon county job fair where AMP, Inc. had a booth set up.  I don't know what gods were looking over me that day, but I thank them greatly!  That's the day I met my mentor, Nan Dixon.  I have learned more from Nan in the short time that I've been at my internship at AMP, than I have anywhere in my life.  Unfortunately, for me, (but an awesome opportunity for Nan), she will be leaving AMP before my internship is done in December.  I will miss her greatly.

So, now I'm in my third semester.. my senior year... its October now and I'm counting down the months till graduation.. (8 to go!).   This semester I'm working at AMP for an internship, taking classes at night, working at the library, at Sunlink, and also a new position as a tutor/teacher assitant for a client server class.  One might wonder when I have time to think.. but somehow I manage it all.

And this semester I have a great roommate to help me along too.  I think she's around to help me keep my brain intact *laughing*. Her name is Capri and she's from New York, accent and all included.  Let me tell ya.......people really look twice when us two are hanging out together... *chuckle*.   She knows just about everyone on campus... I know maybe about 15.... That gal gets 20 calls a day... I think I might get 20 this year if I'm lucky! *laughing*.  But all in all... we're great friends.  Might even get a pic of her up here too, that is if she doesn't yell *lol*!

So, there ya have it what's been going on so far.   Hopefully, I'll be updating this a little more often... *g*.. but.. don't hold your breath on that....
