Those Great '97 Superbowl Memories...
I'm Mike, a true CHEESEHEAD from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin (a 'burb of Milwaukee). I created this page with the help of my cyber-friends Kim and Mike who help me with it ALOT!
It's partly a shrine to my Green Bay Packers, and also an area where I can talk about my donation of bone marrow to try and help a man with leukemia survive. I donated on April 11, 1996.
I met his family on Dec. 6, 1997 in Richmond, VA. Read about The Meeting.
I met Ken (a fellow donor) over dinner in Kenosha, WI. Before he moved to California, he shared pictures of me of the stages of Janis' Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and we shared experiences as BMT donors. He's an active duty Marine officer - pretty high up there, I believe. His last station was the Pentagon. Originally, he contacted me by email on April 9, 1996, 2 days before my harvest, to ease my fears over entering into the procedure. We've been friends ever since.
This got a strong reaction from me. It's Ken's marrow recipient, Janis, helping another donor named Alan write a speech on BMT donation for a Toastmasters exercise. I'm sure Janis' marrow recipient story will have as great an impact on you.
For more info on Bone Marrow Transplants and other's stories go to Kim's page, she has the BEST links to everywhere on the net!
I just speak from my own experiences and some research I did before donating my half-gallon of the stuff. Go see the link to my Marrow story for more on this.
Hey, my page is starting to receive awards. Check them out!
Looks like the 98 season is over. BUMMER! Next year they'll be back on top! GO PACKERS!!! (hear Bart Star say it...)

This very special poem is dedicated to Robert. He passed away on
Jan. 9, 1997...
God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be.
So He wrapped his arms around you,
and whispered, "Come to me".
You didn't deserve what you went through,
So He gave you rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best
And when I saw you sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain
I could not wish you back
To suffer that again.
