Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy is not...
Although Occupational Therapists often
assist people in returning to work after mishap, illness or
injury.
Although during the educational process
Occupational Therapists attend many of the same classes as Physical
Therapists .
Occupational Therapy is...
People who for one reason or another are unable to function independently.
These people may have experienced a mishap, injury or illness.
Occupational Therapy provides
things like ADLs (activities of daily living-- eg. dressing, eating, cooking,
bathing, toileting)
Occupational Therapy
helps others to help themselves.
Occupational Therapists
treat the whole person!
Life
circumstances are taken into account during the treatment process. The
person is what is important to the therapist. The person's wants, needs
and desires for recovery are what the therapist will address and the goals
they together, along with family and friends, as a team will reach for.
