C.R.O.W comes from an easy to remember
acronym that my husband came up with.
Corn Rice
Oats Wheat.
It helps you remember what "food day"
it is.
When I first set this up, based on the
famous, If It's Tuesday, It Must Be Chicken book, I tried to pick
foods that natually are eaten together. Like here in Pennsylvania,
ham and beans and potatoes always go together. Likewise, isn't it
always, chicken and rice? And turkey hoagies? I tried to make
it so it would be easy to find something to feed the boys between doctors'
appointments on the road. Here is the result of my 14 years of tweaking
our diets.
Corn | pork/ ham | beans/ peas/peanut
/ potatoes |
corn syrup candies
like caramels & hard candies, or peanut butter stuff. |
corn/ soy/
or peanut oil |
soy or corn | ||||||
Rice | chicken/ egg | broccoli | chocolate | canola oil | rice "milk"
Oats | beef/ milk | carrots/ yams | icecream | olive oil | cow
Wheat | turkey | lettuce/ spinach | cookies or cake | wheat-germ oil,
flax oil |
goat or human |
Notes:
Any food you stay off of for six weeks, may make the reaction go away. If you overindulge, it can come back!
Peanuts (beans and other legumes), tree nuts and shellfish are NOT likely to go away.
I no longer recommend rotating oils, even though this is the diet I
followed for 2 years before it got into this final form.
I recommend only butter and olive oil. Oils are not very allergenic
anyway.
