Hi! My name is Scott
Kerlin. This is a photograph of me, taken in 1995. I'm an educator and
Internet research consultant, a "cybrarian" (cyberspace
librarian and online information resources specialist), and a personal counselor in private practice. My home is in beautiful
Portland, Oregon. I'm also the co-author of Teach 2000: The Educators' Guide to the Internet and World Wide Web, which is an online training guide for K-12 and postsecondary educators. If you've ever wanted to learn more about the potential uses of the Internet in educational settings, this guide should be of great help to you and your students. As you'll discover if you visit my music room, I love many different kinds of music and performing arts. I also love traveling and hiking in the Pacific Northwest, and I hope some day to hone my mountain climbing skills and climb Mt. Rainier in Washington state. I invite you to take a virtual tour of some of my favorite places, especially Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia, Canada. | In my professional consulting work I utilize the Internet as a tool for communications and research as well as for locating information for others. I offer tutorials for learning about and getting the most out of the Internet and the World Wide Web to schools, colleges and universities, and a variety of public and private sector organizations. I also enjoy teaching and guiding individuals from a wide range of backgrounds about how to use the Internet to enhance their daily lives through information, contact with other people, and a huge network of educational resources available at the simple click of a button (or two!). |
On the next page are some of my most useful website creations to help familiarize you with my background and interests--about people, communications, education, the Internet. My philosophy in providing the many resources you'll find in my collection is that through a variety of perspectives, we can better understand the issues of our lives and of the times in which we are living. I view information as a form of empowerment. As an Internet "interpreter" I can then help you to make sense of it all. | Please make yourself at home while you visit, as there are many virtual corridors with information that may interest you. If you would like to know more about how I utilize these resources to assist my clients, or if you would like to set up an initial personal consulting session with me, please drop me a line. |
