MY LIFE
Danny's Letters to God
Listening
Dear God,
Well, my tardiness is once again NOT MY FAULT. Nothing ever is. Since You are in charge of my life, I'm only responsible for doing the footwork. The results belong to you. The woman You sent to run my life was wide awake this morning and said those words married men hate to hear, "we have to talk." I could tell by the look on her face, the tone in her voice and her body language she had a head start on this yet to happen conversation. Experience teaches me to say nothing, do no facial expressions, no grunting or smiling and definitely no leaving the room until she is finished. I stuffed my hands down inside the arm of my recliner -- fists at the clench and my mind focused. Was I ready or what? No, wait! I said the serenity prayer requesting there be no need for any input from me. My fervent prayer has been answered and here I am, safe and sound writing to You. I'm going to be spending some time today after the woman leaves for work to try and remember what the hell she said.
By the way, selective hearing is one of the better things You equipped husbands with, thanks. Happy marriages have a lot to do with the ability to shut down what little minds men have left after saying I DO and women say SHUT UP, YOU WILL WHEN I TELL YOU!!! Works for me. Can You tell that my life, at least this a.m. is just a bowl of cherries? Thanks. When I finish this I'll sift through the sixty six e-mails on this machine and be as helpful as can be to the rest of my world. Meanwhile, it would be nice if You would grant me the wisdom to know and power to do Your will, just for today. Watch over my family, friends, fellow loopies, those who are still searching and, of course, the people I don't like. Thanks.
