The objective of the Huachuca Art Association is to encourage and promote artistic growth in the community with a major emphasis on the visual arts.

The current membership of the Huachuca Art Association (HAA) is approximately 160. The talents of our members cover a wide range of artistic media; including oil, acrylic, and watercolor painting, pastel, drawing, photography, sculpture, ceramics, pottery, printing, stained glass, metalwork, basketry, jewelry, crafts, fiber/textiles, leather, and wood.

Several types of memberships are available: Individual, Senior, Family, Sustaining, Life, Group, Corporate, and Patron. For more information, call the HAA Gallery at 520 459-7733 or write to HAA at P.O. Box 748, Sierra Vista, AZ 85636-748.

Several of our members have received Artist of The Year Awards and have been selected as featured artists for art festivals. Many members exhibit their work in commercial galleries and with other art organizations.

HAA sponsors its annual "Art In The Park" outdoor juried fair in Sierra Vista, AZ each year, in the first weekend in October. This two-day (Saturday and Sunday) event is one of the finest art fairs in the Southwest, attracting artists from many states. A new Jury Committee is selected each year to screen entrants. Excluded are galleries, shops, and other commercial enterprises, as well as charities and solicitors of any kind.

Space is available for 220 booths measuring 15 feet wide and 35 feet deep. Exhibitors may park their RVs in their booth spaces overnight beginning Friday. Alternative space is available for oversized vehicles.

Call the HAA Gallery at 520 459-7733 or write to Art in the Park, P.O. Box 247, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635-247, for an information package. The applications are sent out the first part of February, and the the deadline is at the end of May.

One of the major activities of HAA is to encourage participation in the visual arts within the community. To this end, we work with the City of Sierra Vista, the Sierra Vista Chamber of Commerce, and many other civic and social organizations.

Much of our efforts are directed toward the youth of the area. A $1000 scholarship is awarded each year to an area student. HAA has sponsored art exhibits for student groups and has provided materials and funding for art supplies for area schools. The Sierra Vista Winter Arts Festival series was actively supported by HAA.

HAA holds workshops and demonstrations in various subjects related to the visual arts.

A full time art gallery is operated by HAA, providing a place for members to display and sell their work. It is located in The Sierra Vista Chamber of Commerce building, at 21 E. Wilcox Drive. Gallery hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The telephone number is 520 459-7733.

A Gallery Committee, made up of member volunteers, manages the HAA Gallery.

Annual scheduled exhibits in the gallery include a Western Theme Exhibit in January/February, coordinated with the annual Cochise Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering held in Sierra Vista, the Annual Sierra Vista Art Festival (an open, judged show) in May, and a Crafts Show in November. During other times, member exhibits and special theme shows are held. Recent examples include High School Photography Exhibits, and an Auto Theme exhibit, coordinated with local car clubs. Local area clubs and organization are invited to participate in art oriented activities in the Gallery.
