Interesting Books: |

Here are some books I remember best from about 50 years of memory:
THE MOONSTONE, Willkie Collins
THE SCARLET LETTER, N. Hawthorne
JOHN BROWN'S BODY, Stephen V. Benet
MOBY DICK, H. Melville
THE LITTLE PRINCE and NIGHT FLIGHT, Antoine de St. Exupery
THE FEMININE MYSTIQUE, Betty Freidan
ANGLE OF REPOSE, Wallace Stegner
Mysteries by P. D. James, but also her book, THE CHILDREN OF MEN
Mysteries by Martha Grimes, Tony Hillerman, Elizabeth George, Sharyn
McCrumb, Ellis Peters (the Brother Cadfael series), Dick Francis,
The "Cat Who..." series (naturally), Rita Mae Brown, and others!
Poetry - Emily Dickinson, William Blake, James Cavanaugh, and on and on
here, too. A good anthology can keep me going for hours on a
lovely snowy evening. |

My Passion: |
|
First and foremost, I'm a reader, a student of what makes people tick.
After that, I love watching the physical world around me -- people, flora,
fauna, weather -- beautiful paintings done without the artist's brush.
Then comes music, in almost all its wondrous variety, sculpture, theatre.
"The arts" as we call them speak to our Soul and our Self, revealing our
similarities and differences from the time humans first communicated, a
never-ending source of learning about ourselves. |
