NDMS Uniform Instruction


1. When Authorized



The NDMS uniform is required to be worn by a DMAT member during field deployments in response to a Presidentially declared disaster.

The uniform may also be worn during a field exercise when authorized by the Director, Office of Emergency Preparedness/NationaI disaster Medical System (OEP/NDMS), or their designee.

Wearing of the uniform in circumstances other than those previously stated will require pre-approval from the Director, OEP/NDMS, or their designee.

2. Composition of the NDMS Uniform


The NDMS uniform will consist of the Khaki blouse (shirt); Khaki pants; team authorized shirt(s); socks (color optional); shoes or boots. Additional clothing articles that may be worn include a team authorized hat; over covering (dependent upon environmental conditions), e.g., raincoat or poncho; and gloves.

3. Insignia and ldentification Patches.



Attached is a diagram of the uniform blouse (front and sleeve views) and the designated locations of authorized insignia and identification patches. All applications to the uniform must be centered in the areas indicated on the diagram. No patch or insignia is to be affixed to the pants of the uniform.

Insignia and identification patches may be sewn or velcroed to the uniform. (Velcro patch attachments provide a more convenient means of changing or replacing designations, e.g., name tape strip.)

a. Name Tape (optional - Team will Issue)



The name tape (cloth) shall be worn immediately above and parallel to . the top edge of the right breast pocket. Name tape is a 1 inch wide, 4 1/2 inch long cloth strip. The tape extends to each pocket edge but not beyond.

b. USPHS Identification-(OEP/NDMS will issue)



The "USPHS" (cloth) tape shall be worn immediately above and parallel to the top edge of the left breast pocket. This patch is a 1 inch wide, 4 1/2 inch long strip of cloth df the same basic color as the uniform. The tape extends to each pocket edge but not beyond.

c. NDMS Patch- (OEP/NDMS will Issue)


This patch is placed on the left pocket of the blouse, centered (with the flap closed) between the bottom of the pocket flap and the bottom of the pocket.

d. Team Arm Rocker (OEP/NDMS will Issue)



Affixed to the outside left sleeve of the blouse. Located 1/2 inch below the shoulder seam and centered across the sleeve.

e. Team Insignia -. (Team will Issue)



The insignia is centered on the outside left sleeve, no lower than 1/2 inch below the bottom of the arm rocker. The insignia design may vary, e.g. circle, square, rectangular, etc.

f. U . S. Flag-(OEP/NDMS willl issue)



Affixed to the outside right sleeve of the blouse. Located 1 inch below the shoulder seam and centered across the sleeve.
