This is a communication from a member who has been kind
enough to give us a follow up report on MUSE. As well as an
interesting experiment . It is followed up by my answer and
comments.

Joe,
For what it may be worth, here is a followup report on our
experience with
MUSE. I'm sure by now there must be more members using it.
Remember, I'm
using the 1000 mcg dosage.

About three days ago I had gone through my first six pack of
MUSE
applications, which was 10 days after receiving it. I have
had very
good results with it. As you know, Vivus prescribes the use
of MUSE up to
twice daily and I wanted to report that we did, in fact, use
it twice one
morning at about 0200 then again at about 0900. So there was
an interval of
some 7 hours between dosages. There was no discernible effect
one way or
another as far as I could determine. It worked the second
dose as it did
the first. *If anything*, there might have been a lingering
sensation in the
glans and cavernosum/urethral area that lasted for a greater
than normal
length of time after the second dose. I will describe that
later.

I decided I wanted to try an experiment once the initial
discovery uses were
behind us, so I chose a time when I could be alone and
applied a dose and
started walking around (as Vivus recommends) attempting to
keep my mind on
other matters as much as possible. My goal was to observe the
timing and
reaction of the drug with no partner present or contributing,
no sensual
ambience, and no physical sexual stimulation or manipulation.

While going about other business, I had a definite awareness
that was quite
impossible to ignore or send to the background as the drug
began working
causing a slight sensation and the penis beginning to swell.
At exactly D +7
minutes, I had an erection that I would classify as 75% of
that I experience
when my wife is present, very capable of penetration but not
in a full rigid
state. Very usuable though. You might recall that my first
reports noted that
my perception is that the initial erection prior to
penetration I experience
with MUSE is slightly less than that with my urologist's
injection mixture,
or Caverject.

At exactly D +14 minutes, I had achieved a rigid erection and
the penis
was full and engorged. At that time, the sensation had
increased and I can
best describe it as an intense awareness in the glans and
cavernosum/urethral
area-not what could be classified as pain, but maybe mild
irritation.
Actually, it was more of an irrestible anxious urge that
beggged for relief.
Not unlike the feelings in the penis and groin when your
passion rises
unfulfilled, but including a little more of the mild
localized pain that must
come from the alprostadil drug which is the active ingredient
in MUSE.
Without doubt, the irritation would have quickly been masked
with any direct
sexual stimulation (which at that point I was regretting the
absence of and
hoping the opportunity for).

The erection lingered for well over one and one-half hours
and, following
that for some time, the 'afterglow" sensations would easily
have ignited
another erection in the presence of sexual activity or
stimulus. Following
the return to a flaccid state, the penis remained somewhat
turgid and there
was mild feeling that I could call pain, I guess. It bordered
between a
pleasant feeling and pain and it lingered on for about 2 to 3
hours more
until about 1330, at which time I had no unusual feeling in
the penis, but if
I squeezed the glans or shaft, it was slightly sensitive as
it might get
after prolonged intercourse. But, the injection site pain and
other pain
associated with injection is not there with MUSE in my
experience.

In my somewhat limited experience, there is no doubt that
MUSE can be
effective and sustain intercourse for a very lengthy period
indeed without
the downside effects of injection and resulting pain. Thus
far each dose has
delivered the desired result.

Regards,

My Reply :

Thank you for a very interesting followup, I kind of wondered
if it would be as effective per se without stimulation and
it looks like it does !!!! I also like the consistency of the
results as opposed to the injectables where the results
varied a great deal, even with the same dose !!!! I wonder if
you could be so kind as to grant permission to post this in
public, or would you prefer to rewrite it for everybodies
benefit ?

Thanks again

Joe

Dr. Joe,

<<Thank you for a very interesting followup,, I kind of

stimulation and it looks like it does !!!!<<

You are most welcome. As you can see, I, too, was very
curious and wanted to just observe the drug on it's own as
much as possible.

<<I also like the consistency of the results as opposed to
theinjectables where the results varied a great deal, even
with the same dose !!!!<<

Amen, Joe! That has been one of the aspects I am *most*
pleased with about MUSE. As long as you get consistent
results, you can sometimes compensate or learn to deal with
it. At least you know what to expect. There was always the
risk of hitting a vein or vessel. You've seen it many times
on here where guys would talk about a dud, or, maybe even
worse, prolonged erections would result. Many times reference
has been made to "sweet spots", the inference being that
sometimes it did not deliver expected results. I had a
feeling consistency would be improved and I think I mentioned
that in some of our earlier discussions. After all, it goes
in the same place with the same dose, and has the same
absorption rate, etc.

<<I wonder if you could be so kind as to grant permission to
post this in public, or would you prefer to rewrite it for
everybodies benefit ?<<

I don't have any problem and like the previous, feel free to
edit it in any manner, Dr. Joe.

I'm hoping to get some feedback from my uro soon on his other
patients and his own personal opinion and will pass that info
along also when available.

Regards,
