The obverse show the bust of Franz Josef I, Emperor of Austria from 1848 to 1916 and King of Hungary from 1867 to 1916. The legend says:
"Francis Joseph I, D.G., Emperor of Austria, King of Bohemia, Galicia and Illyria and King of Hungary.

On the reverse is the elaborate Austrian "Double Eagle with Crown" coat of arms, formed from the quarters of the Crown Lands.
