Philosophy

BIG-I (CREATOR) SELF-I (MIND) BODY (DWELLING)

The BIG-I is the creator of all men. He is consistently perfect. His only form of expression is love. The creator is omnipresent, both within and without his creations. Because he is perfect, his creations, the Self-I and the Body, also have the potential for perfection. However, though these creations have the potential for perfection, the Self-I and the Body can become estranged from the Creator.

The SELF-I, the mind, has free will. It has a capacity for memory and learning. It is neither master of nor slave to the Body. Through it, the Big-I has given us free will, but not necessarily the knowledge or wisdom to use it well. Thus, there is no pat formula for life's decisions. The key to making wise decisions is knowing how to learn. There is a way.

The BODY provides a divine temporary dwelling for the Self-I. It is designed for survival. It neither reasons nor judges, but does its best to respond to the will, decisions, and thoughts projected on it by the Self-I; responding to constructive influence of the mind with healing or health, and destructive influence with disease. The body has two forms: its Newtonic form, consisting of its structure (organs, muscles, bones, etc.) and function; and its Quantum form, consisting of its bio-electromagnetic field, or energy field.

Disease can arise from either or both the Self-I (mental causes) and the Body (physical causes).

The mental causes can come from emotional trauma. Sudden or long-term emotional trauma from losing a loved one, from divorce, or from severe negative thoughts such as obsession, greed, anger, pride, or doubt can cause extreme tension in the body. Without proper release, this tension can rapidly generate toxins that cause energy blockages, which in turn cause illness.

The physical causes can come from physical trauma or from chemical toxins originating in the environment or caused by imbalanced nutrition or improper medication. Physical traumas such as those commonly occurring in sports or job-related injuries, automobile accidents, or even resulting from poor posture or improper exercise can cause biomechanical imbalance. Biomechanical imbalance can manifest itself as a variety of conditions such as neck and lower back pain, disc herniation, knee osteoarthritis, or frozen shoulder. Chemical toxins can result from improper usage of medication or nutritional imbalance. Poor eating and drinking habits, for instance, can cause a nutritional or pH imbalance within the body. An excessively acid pH due to lack of sufficient alkalines from fresh fruit and vegetables can generate chemical toxins and make the body vulnerable to cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and other diseases.

HERBAL TREATMENT

Dr. Chen believes that doctors do not cure disease. The physical body naturally attempts to heal itself even under the most difficult conditions. He believes that the role of the doctor is primarily to detect the causes of a patient's illness and educate and help the patient. With new understanding and following the proper medical instructions from the doctor, a patient can help him- or herself build a healthier mind and a stronger body and prevent further illness.

Dr. Chen takes a holistic approach to health, and stresses the importance of preventive care. Using his TCM training and knowledge in body energy, he locates and releases any energy blockages. For illness caused by emotional trauma, Dr. Chen works with his patients to lessen or remove any emotional conflicts. He instructs them in meditation and breathing exercises. For some patients with physical traumas, Dr. Chen uses acupuncture and therapeutic techniques to help the body heal naturally. For others, he uses the methods of acupressure or chiropractic techniques such as neuromuscular re-education, joint release, and soft tissue release to correct any bio-mechanical imbalance. For patients with illness caused by a nutrition imbalance, Dr., Chen uses a method consisting of Cleansing, Balancing, Alkalizing, and Enhancing to achieve a proper nutrient and pH balance within the body. For any pain or illness, Dr. Chen seeks to use the best, most effective and individually tailored method of treatment for each patient.
