Dr. Fu Zhao
Chinese Herbalist and
Acupuncturist
As a famous neurologist from China, Dr. Fu Zhao has extensive medical practice, research and teaching experience over the last 40 years. Graduated from Shanghai Medical University in 1954, she was the chief and professor at the Neurology Institute of Sun Yat-Sen Medical University in Guangzhou, China before she moved to the United States. While in China, she received many science achievements awards from the Health Department of China for her outstanding research in the areas of neuro-muscular diseases, multiple sclerosis, radiation mylopathy, etc. She has published over 100 technical papers in China and abroad. She has also done extensive research in Chinese medicine, mind-body and acupuncture meridians network.In 1986, Dr. Zhao joined the National Institutes of Health as a research scientist of neurology and immunology working on the kinetics of gene expressions for lymphokines, cytokines, and human immuno-deficiency virus. Over the next eight years, she studied immunologic diseases and the immunology mechanism for the development and treatment of AIDs.
Because of her comprehensive knowledge and medical practice, she was sought after by many, including the King of Cambodia and his mother. In addition, she has traveled to Beijing several times to treat Chairman Mao for his neuro-muscular degenerative disease as well as many other high-ranking officials such as Zhou Lin and Marshals Zhu De and Ye-Jin Yin. She was called the doctor of the royal court.
At her clinic at Rockville, Maryland, Dr. Zhao practices alternative medicines like acupuncture and herbs to prevent diseases and to enhance immunity of her patients. She has helped many patients who, because of aging, organ diseases, disorders of metabolism, deterioration of body and immunity systems, have suffered symptoms like pain, skin damage, digestive and excrete system disorders, menstrual disorders.
