Comments on Liverpool's Season
Okie, I'm still sore at
the Fowler and Westerveld issue. I was going through the players' diary for
the past few days. Heggem was particularly sympathetic about the Fowler and
Westerveld issue. Some mentioned that it'll be sad to see Fowler go and he
would be missed. Others were like, Liverpool can do without Fowler. Okie,
so they are reflecting that they are professionals by saying that.
Anyway,
I think what Heggem mentioned is really true: "I
do think that his transfer reminds everyone just how ruthless a business
football can be. Don't forget that Liverpool had quite a bit of success when
Sander was playing. We won five trophies in that time, and he did well for us.
But if you are not in the manager's plans, there is not much you can do and
you can suddenly find yourself bombed out. That's the way it is.
It is
always sad when a team-mate and a friend leaves to join another club. That was
the case for me last Friday when Sander Westerveld came into Melwood before
training to say his goodbyes.Sander went into the dressing room to shake
everyone's hand before he flew off to Spain to complete his move to Real
Sociedad. And while I am sorry to see him go, I think it's very understandable
why he felt he had to leave." - Heggem's
Diary
<Webmaster> Yeah,
everyone forgot about how Westerveld helped the club win 5 trophies. People
tend to remember others' mistakes..........
Anyway, I personally feel that they should
just bring on Litmanen often. A Fowler and Litmanen combi. Sounds nice to me
-----> ALL THIS WON'T HAPPEN ANYMORE! I am so disappointed with what
Liverpool have done to Fowler. They didn't offer him a contract? That was what
I heard. WHY DIDN'T THEY GIVE HIM A CHANCE? He's worth giving that chance to.
And now, Liverpool have to rely on Owen. Heskey is so ineffective so we can
forget about him scoring in the games. Did Houllier play a part in that
decision?

Match:Liverpool Vs Bayer Leverkusen
Comments:
On the whole, it was a crappy match. The one
touch passing we saw last week wasn't present. Horrible passing and lots of
mistakes made. The players looked like schoolboys playing. They kept giving the
ball away. It was a terrible terrible game. The usually defensive strong
Liverpool didn't look like what they were last week. Could it be that the recent
criticisms by various managers about Liverpool's style of soccer rubbed on them
in a psychologically way? Many said they were playing boring style of soccer but
at least, like what Houllier said, it's getting them places. It was just
disappointing to see Liverpool throw away the one goal aggregate and away goal
lead just like that. Errors and more errors. It just wasn't Liverpool playing on
that pitch that day. Leverkusen was so much better. It cost Liverpool the game,
a place in the semis, a chance to meet Man Utd in the semis. But just when you
thought it was all over, Litmanen gave Liverpool a goal and a hope. But it all
ended a while later due to defensive error. The whole defence was just messy.
Liverpool were so close but yet so far. They just made it against Roma to get
into the quarters. But now, they missed a chance to play against Man Utd, which
they probably could have won, judging from the recent meetings between these two
teams. Otherwise we fans would be able to watch Liverpool in the finals on their
first attempt at the European Cup. But oh well, on the brighter side of things,
it's Liverpool's first foray into the competition after many years, and at least
they have gone as far as the quarters. Not too bad an attempt. Next season,
maybe next season would be just the year for them.
Match Review:(Other Teams)
Too busy to write about other teams this season.
Sorry :)

Fowler's left for Leeds. It's sad for us Liverpool fans who have supported the
club ever since those players (Fowler, James, Mcman, McAteer, Redknapp, Berger)
were there. Now the only member left of the 1990s team is Redknapp and Berger.
<Webmaster> Personally, I think it wouldn't be long before Redknapp's
being sold and I don't want that to happen. Anyway, here's wishing Fowler the
best. I hope he performs well for his new club and start scoring goals to proves
his critics wrong, to show what he is really worth. To show that it's a mistake
to sell him.

Sander Westerveld has completed his move to Real Sociedad. The Dutch keeper has
signed a contract with the Spanish club until the summer of 2005. Westerveld was
the most expensive goalkeeper in British football when he joined the Reds from
Vitesse Arnhem in 1999. He replaced David James in the Liverpool goal and made
103 appearances for the club.
<Webmaster> He just spent less than two and a half years at Liverpool and
was made to leave after his mistake. People keep forgetting that he played a
part in helping Liverpool win the 5 cups last season. At least he left winning 5
cups. Anyway, here's wishing Westerveld the best and hopes that he performs well
for his club and is happy where he is.

<Webmaster> After I updated my page yesterday and added backdated news, I
actually mentioned something about hoping that Fowler scored for his new club.
And guess what, he did! I'm so happy for him. Just hope that he continues
playing well for his club.

<Webmaster> After being away for so long, I just read some news on Babbel
yesterday. Did not know that his illness is that serious. Here's wishing him
speedy recovery and hope he gets back to the Liverpool squad as soon as
possible.
The first half of the 2002 season has not been that good of a season for
Liverpool. They were knocked out of the League Cup, Houllier and Babbel's
serious sickness. And then there's the Westerveld and Fowler departure (Okie, so
this does not reflect their season being bad). To me, it is, it means a lot to
us fans that Fowler is leaving. Oh well............

Heskey picked up an ankle knock in the 2-1 defeat against Arsenal and was
substituted at half time.
But Nicolas Anelka will be available for selection and could come straight into
the side to partner Michael Owen in attack.
<Webmaster> Let's hope that he doesn't create any problem for Liverpool.

Liverpool Football Club have denied rumours that Jamie
Redknapp is on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur.
<Webmaster> He's my fav! I hope he doesn't leave. Unlucky
fellow, career has been filled with injuries. A move to the London
club might be possible cause it means moving closer to Nurding, his
wife and more first team games. Anyway, I do hope that those are just
rumours! Got a scare when my friend messaged me early in the morning
about it.

Midfield star Patrik Berger has hinted he wants to sign
a new contract at Liverpool.
<Webmaster> Good thing he signed a new contract cause it's
really sad to see the guys leaving one after another, those of whom
you've supported for so long. Think: Macca, Fowler.

Liverpool captain Jamie Redknapp today left the club on
a free transfer. He has signed a four-year contract with Tottenham
Hotspur tonight.
<Webmaster> Rumours turned out to be true. He's one of the
last Spice Boys that left Liverpool. The Spice Boys era has ended! No
doubt a good thing that the Liverpool players have shed that awful
tag, it's really sad to see him go. Really really sad. It's hard to
describe and explain how I feel. Words can't express that. I mean,
it's been years. I started watching the EPL in 1995 after watching him
play. Although I started supporting Redknapp, I ended up loving the
club. It's been 7 years already. It's been a long time since I started
supporting him as a Liverpool player.

Thoughts
Jamie
Redknapp's Departure to Spurs:
Looking at the Redknapp news. News of him being transferred to Spurs for
free. Gosh! I read about this some 3-4 weeks ago. But a check with
the site showed that it's all rumours. Then, suddenly, it's a fact. I'm
really disappointed that he's leaving. 11 years at Liverpool and he's
leaving now. I can't help being sad. He's one of the last of the old
boys of Liverpool to leave. First, it was Jones, Macca, James, Fowler
then him. It's all written on the cards after Fowler was sold. I had
expected him to be sold too, but it's a matter of WHEN. Didn't expect it
to be now, when Liverpool is trying to go for the Premier League title
although to be honest, they don't stand a chance. At a certain point in
time, Redknapp was tipped to be the England captain. But plagued with
injuries, his fortunes changed. I'm now regretting over something. It's
been something that I've regretted ever since that day. Although I tell
myself that, at least I get to meet them in real person, really up
close. But now, I'm feeling more regretful over that matter. About
meeting Liverpool. WHY why why didn't I contact my friend earlier and
bring the necessary stuff along, like my camera, posters and stuff and
tagged along with him. Then, I can have my very own photos taken with
Fowler, Redknapp and the rest of the guys. Who would have thought that
there were great chances for doing so. Regret is how I
feel..........Although I managed to get take a photo with Redknapp, it
didn't turn out right. All I'm left is a negative that cannot be
developed..........
