It all started back about 10 years ago when I ruptured a disk in my lower back and had to have surgery to remove the pieces of disk. This happend to me at age 30,and I was told it is all downhill after you reach age 30 (so my doctor says) but I don't believe it has to be that way. (although it took me a few more years to find that out)
During the next few years I was trying to quit smoking,which I finally did after going "cold turkey". Unfortunately,after one quits smoking,they tend to eat everything in site and blow up a few more pant sizes. Well that is exactly what happened to me.
Almost two years ago, I had a hernia operation and was recovering at home. I purchased a webtv unit,and began to surf the internet for health and fitness sites. Well the internet certainly changed my life forever!
I got so motivated when I came accross Bill Phillips website "MuscleMedia" . I will never forget seeing the before and after pics of the 12 week transformations,and wanting to transform myself in the same way. I immediately went out and joined Golds' Gym. I also went to Bill Phillips website EAS and purchased his supplements.
I also started training with a Golds' Gym trainer John. John showed me all the proper ways to use the machines , and sometimes we even worked out together. I really enjoyed my year of learning from John,but one day I bought a house and had to give up the training.
About 5 weeks before I had to end my training with John,he talked me into signing up for the Golds Gym Summer Challenge. The prize was a trip for two to the Bahamas. I was on my own about 5 weeks into the contest,but I was totally dedicated to sticking with it. I will post some pics of my 12 week transformation below. One book I strongly recommend is Bill Phillips " Body for Life". You can get it at Barnes and Noble. It has some great diet and workout information. I must say,diet is one of the most important supplements one can take!!
I came across a website of Steve Jones "the Keys to Physical Perfection" and had to join his site for the info he was offering. I must say, Steve tells it like it is,and he will be your personal trainer for a year thru email and phone. I stuck with his program and the fat just fell off! I was also impressed with how fast he responded to my email questions. I must thank you Steve for all of you help!
I ended up comming in first place in the contest and won a six month membership to Golds Gym. The next step was to enter my pics in the regional contest for the trip to the Bahamas. I was totally surprized to hear from John that I came in third place out of about 300 other first place winners from the Golds' Gyms in my area. I never dreamed I would have even placed in the top ten.
