WELCOME TO A HUSBANDS INSIGHT INTO WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY |

This page is dedicated to the enlightenment of the spouses and loved ones of those who are contemplating weight loss surgery. My goal is to give some insight into the changes you may expect in your lifestyle while at the same time helping the patient understand some of the emotions their loved ones and family are feeling. I hope to accomplish this by making entries weekly until my wife and I feel our lives have returned to some kind of normalcy.. Today is July 29, 1999 Four days from now I will deliver my wife to Centennial Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee. On Monday August 2nd she will undergo Gastric Bypass Surgery. It has taken almost a year to reach this point. It began when my wife started researching the surgery on the web. That was last October. Her study led to a seminar sponsered by Right Weigh, in Feburary. Her decision was easy and immediate. She wanted the surgery. For me it was not that cut and dry. This is a very serious operation, and a drastic measure. I didn't try to stop her, but I didn't help her either. I guess in my mind I thought the insurance would deny her pre-approval and that would be the end of it. So I just kind of went along... In my mind she just wasn't that overweight. She was diligent however, in the pursuit of her dream. She did everything that was ask of her. Even pshycological exams. In June she started calling the insurance company on a weekly basis to check the status of her approval. On July 15th Blue Cross told her she had been approved. I was working in the garage when she came out to tell me she was approved. The look on her face said it all. Few times had I ever seen her this happy. It was then that I started to take the surgery serious. I started my own research and found the ring on the ANOTHER DISAPPOINTMENT !!!!!! ending |
