A: Farts stink because of the many bacteria in your intestines. Some of the bacteria create flammable gasses such as methane and hydrogen while others create sulfur. The gasses that contribute to a fart's stink factor are indole, skatole, hydrogen sulfide, ketones and sulfur compounds. Indole and skatoles give the poop smell. Hydrogen sulfide gives the deadly egg smell. Hydrogen sulfide is both flammable and lethal. Everyone has different mixtures of these gasses causing different smells. Some peoples' are deadly while others are not that bad.
Q: Is it true that silent farts smell worse than the loud ones?
A: Yes. This is true because the gasses that contribute to the stink: indole, skatole and sulfur are all heavier than the other gasses: windy nitrogen, bubbly carbon dioxide and the famous blue flame methane. In loud farts, the pressure is so great that the latter mentioned are the only gasses released. However, this is not always true. In some cases, the farter creates what is known as offensive methane. Some how (mystery to scientists), the sulfur bonds with the methane. The methane exits in a loud fart and can smell very bad! If you light an offensive methane fart, giant flames along with a horrible stink will be emitted. Now, in silent farts, the heavier gasses are emitted first. Therefore, the stinky gasses reveal themselves.
Q: Why is it good that we fart?
A: Farting is good for your health because you are releasing useless and poisonous gasses from your system. These gasses can kill you and cause you to explode if you didn't fart.
Q: Is it possible to not fart for two months?
A: No. The gasses would kill you. Some may be released by breath but others would be absorbed into the blood. It can exit through poop too.
Q: How long do farts hang around?
A: The length that the stink hangs around depends on what foods you ate, what stinky gasses are in your farts, and how much gas was expelled. Farts can stink from somewhere between 2 and 5 minutes, howvever, I have had some that last well over 10 minutes. After 2 minutes, Hydrogen Sulfide becomes odorless to our noses.
Q: How far can a fart be smelled?
A: Around 10-50 feet.
Q: If I were to store a fart in a bottle and open it years later, would it still stink? A: Yes! Farts can be preserved for a long time!
Q. If you ignite a dog's fart, will it burn just like a humans? Is it the same type of gas since it is in animal?
A: Yes. They are mammalls just like you and I. In fact cats and dogs farts smell worse than humans.
Q: Is it possible to catch a virus from someone who is sick that farts?
A: Good news, no. Any viruses would be killed upon entering the intestines.
Q: How many times do you usually fart in a day? A: On average, girls fart 7 time a day. Us men on the other hand, fart on average 13 or 14 .
Q: Why do some farts come out louder than others?
A: It's all about pressure and volume. The more pressure you exert, the louder the fart. Also, the amount of gas somewhat has to do with it.
Q: Could it be hazardous to my health if I squeeze my butt mucles when i rip one?
A: Not at all! This will make your farts a lot louder. Squeeze as hard as you can!
Q: What do you reccomend as the best way to silent a fart?
A: The best way to silence a fart would be to let it out very slowly. Let it leak out, don't force it out. However, be proud of your effort! BLAST that baby!
Q: If you farted in an enclosed area several time, could you die from the toxic fumes?
A: Actually, it depends upon how long you sit in the area, how much you fart and what you ate. After about 4 hours of sitting in a room having had massive blasts once every 30 seconds, you will die. You can die from methane, hydrogen or carbon dioxide poisoning. You could also die from your own stink (sulfur). This actually happened once in New York. A very big man, who consistently ate beans and cabbage farted several times in his room (air tight) and died from the methane cloud hanging over his bed!
I hope this cleared some things up for you.
