While employed at Kodak I took a course in electronics. After graduation from there I realized that to get anywhere at Kodak you needed a university degree. This I did not have. Being a young fellow I thought I would do better in electronics.
Leaving Kodak I was able to get hired on at Canadian General Electric. Here I worked in the plant where they made radios and television sets. They also were making radar equipment for the Canadian government. After 2 years there was a shake-up in the company and I got moved to another plant. At this place they made electronic tubes for radios and TV sets. They produced television picture tubes as well. The place was called Radio Valve. After working at this plant for 2 years I became completely sick and tired of working in factories
One day while at work a female employee told me that she was going to see her Chiropractor that night. She also told me that he had a lot of electronic equipment in his office. That peaked my interest greatly.
That night I visited Dr. Morris at his office. He showed me all his equipment and I was fascinated. Then he asked me if I was interested in becoming a Chiropractor. I had never thought of it. I was so disenchanted with what I had done with my life to this point I felt that God had brought me to this place at this moment in time to change my life.
To make a long story short I graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in June of 1960. During my senior year at College I met Jeanine Jackson. She was in nurses training at the Wellesley Hospital. In July of 1960 we were married.
I had made previous arrangements to join another Chiropractor, already in practice in Barrie, Ontario. In the summer of 1961 I began to get restless again and wanted a practice of my own. There was one for sale in Alliston, about 10 miles south west of Barrie. By this time we had our first child Brenda born to us while in Barrie. So the three of us packed up and moved to Alliston. Here I had my own practice. I was happy at last.
Between 1961 and 1970 we had two more children. Our second child is Yvonne. She got married in 1998. Our third child is Shelley. About a year ago she was sitting at her computer using the internet on a chat line and she started talking to a fellow named Peter who lives in London, England. To make a long story short the Chat group had a get together in Key West ,Florida. Shelley went and met Peter for the first time. There was a mutual attraction by both of them. Since then Shelley has been to England, and Peter has been in Canada three times. The last time was in May 1999 and Shelley recieved an engagement ring from him. Now it is the year 2000 they were married September 16. Following the marriage Shelley has gone to London, England to live with Peter. Interestingly enough they will be living not far away from where my father lived before he came to Canada in the early 1900. You can see pictures of Shelley at her Web site Shelley's Site
Now you would think with all my restlessness and moving around that it would not be long before I would be making another change. SURPRISE!! In this year of 2000 I am still living here in Alliston. I am retired and contented. Its been an interesting life to say the least. Through it all I have proved the Lord's goodness to me. In October 1997 I found out that I had cancer of the prostate. In the year 2000 in August I had a mild stroke, affecting my left side. When I wrote this we were entering October 2000 and I have recovered to about 95%. Keep coming back to this site to keep updated.
As I write this paragraph it is now February 2001. When I had the stroke in August of year 2000 my drivers licence was taken away form me. Here it is February 2001 and I still do not have it back. You will have to come back in March to find out if and when I can get it back.
Here it is March 19 and I have received my drivers licence in the mail. How I thank the Lord for His goodness to me.
In January of 2001 I had an MRI done on my head to see if there was any residual sign in my brain of where I had the stroke. Today is Feb 12,2001 and I have just found out there is a small lesion in my brain where the stroke occurred. However I do not have any physical deficet from it. Praise the Lord!
The plan now is for my wife Jeanine and I to fly to England to visit our daughter in London. We plan to leave April 19,2001.
This entry is being written July 20, 2001. We visited England and it was fantastic. Now that it is summer time Jeanine and I are using our Motorhome once again. We visited our relatives in La Tuque. We took a trip to Thunder Bay and back. We went over to Iroquois Falls to visit Dorothy and Jack Scott. So far we have seen a moose and a bear cub.
This is being written October 21,01. We have been to Algonquin Park twice this year. The last time was on October 1 to the 6. The colours were spectacular.
Today is July 30, 2002. This year we took our annual Motorhome trip to Thunder Bay over the July 1 weekend. We hope to spend the third week of Aug. in Algonquin Park.
This is being written on Nov 8,2002. We did spend 2 separate weeks in Algonquin Park this year. We also were in the Laurentians twice this year too. We have had a wonderful summer in our Motorhome. Now we settle down in our home and wait for Spring.
This is being written on Sept 23,2003. We were up to Thunder Bay 2 times this spring. Once to a wedding, and again to a conference. We have spent 2 separate weeks in Algonquin this year, and next Monday hope to go up again to see the colours. It is my hope that the colours will be wonderful, because I love to photograph them. If they are good I will have to put some of them on my photography page. My wife Jeanine has just had an operation on her arm to remove some tissue that contained a Melanoma-in situ.
In 2004 Jan and I visited England once again, for 3 weeks this time. We went up to Scotland for a few days. Then we spent a week in Cornwall, which was fabulous. I have discovered I love England.
In 2005 I have found out that I have heart problems. I am scheduled to have a heart bypass operation on May 18th. On that date I was in the hospital bed waiting to be taken to the OR when the surgeon walked in and said he had bad news for me. He could not operate on me that day as he had a emergency come in. So I got dressed again and went home. Now I am booked to have the operation on June 2. On June the 2nd I got turned away again, because of another emergency. Now I am to have the operation on June 9th. This time I did have the operation, and came through it very well. Again I praise the Lord for His goodness to me.
Today is August 8,2006. On June 9th I marked my one year anniversary after the heart operation. This year instead of taking our motorhome to Thunder Bay, we took the car because of the price of gas. It is now well over a dollar a liter.
Today is Sept 25, 2006. We are hoping to go up to Algonquin Park next week to see the colours. Gas is now $79 cents a liter. I am hoping for great pictures. Will post more when I get back.
Thank you for visiting this continuing saga of our lives.
