What Snoo '99 Part II

Safeco Field - Home of the Mariners

July 99 - NEW BASEBALL STADIUM! Woo hoo, the Seattle M's got a new home, thanks to 3% of my bonus money over the last three years . . . I get to work at the AT&T Wireless kiosk right on the first base line behind home plate for several games.  Hoping to get some good hiking/camping in this month, granted we get some damn SUN for a change.  Planning some career moves and have made an offer on a property in the Maple Leaf neighborhood, north of Seattle proper.

Grrr, Baby, VERY Grrrr !

August 99 - Holy Cow, man, is summer ever really going to happen?  Actually, have been enjoying this nice cool, wet, raining month . .  yeah, RIGHT.  I'm zooming in on a property to buy.  Most likely it will be up in the Edmonds area, just north of Seattle.  BIG NEWS!!! With the help of a CACI, found my sister's Birthmom.  Her name is Carrie and she lives south of the Bay Area.  This is an amazingly good thing.  Also went camping with the gang at Lake Wenatchee.  One of the few truly sunny moments in the month.  Had a great time with da boyz.  Check out the dog standing on the lake shore . . . .what a crack up!

There's no place like home

September 99 - AMAZING, REMARKABLE, FINALLY!  I got the place, gang.  That's right, Feisty owns property.  With the help of my faithful agent, found a 3BR condo in Edmonds for under 100K.  Wowzers is an understatement.  Here I am with my keys on Sept. 21, 1999.  My goal was to buy before I was 30 - beat the deadline by 36 days.  Woo hoo!  Now comes the task of moving , unpacking, and practicing careful Feng Shui.  On top of all that excitement, September has been the busiest month of the year, so far.  Mariners games, more camping, dinner parties, and Ski Buddies board meetings.  Seems like everything's cookin now.  Thanks to everyone who encouraged me to buy a home and stood by me during the arduous process, especially my mortgage broker, Jeff Naughton and agent, Bob Bruneau.  There's no place like home!

Good clean fun on 18th and Castro.  Happy Halloween!

October 99 - How in the hell did 30 years go by?  One minute I'm 15 years old looking forward to becoming an adult and the next minute it's the turn of the century.  October has been relatively placid - narrowly escaped jury duty, traveled to Jim Ray's beautiful vacation spot in Friday Harbor, and on 10.27.99 I turn THIRTY FRIGGIN YEARS OLD, MR BIGGLESWORTH.  Man, flime ties.  I wish my Mom was alive so I could thank her for everything she taught me.  Flying down the San Francisco for Halloween Hell Ball, and a chance to visit with some dear old friends I've missed for the last several years.  Can you feel it?  It's gonna be a ROCKIN Winter Sports year . . . big fluffy piles of white stuff are heading our way.  Thanks to all of the wonderufl friends that have stood by throughout the years with all my evolutionary changes.  You're all what makes life worthwhile.  Mahalo nui loa.

Aren't they precious?

November 99 - Quick Robin, to the Batmobile!  Well, I guess not today . . . Take a look at what's left of my poor car after the wreck.  Been driving for 14 years and never caused a collision accident, then one night on my way to the Scorpio Party . . . BANG, rear ended a big Chevy truck.  Let me tell you, nothing will sharpen your focus and awareness of other drivers more than a *&^%@!!! rear ender.  Lesson learned - don't reach for the water jug while your car is in motion.  Apparently, you're supposed to BREAK when the red lights flash on the vehicle in front of you . . . ha ha.
I've had the pleasure of housing my buddy Ben for part of November while he prepares for his migration to his new home:  Ft. Lauderdale.  I'm in the market for a late model Tacoma or Ranger, low miles.  Hopefully one will pop out of the woodwork soon.  Looking forward to the shredding season (snowboarding) and have had several new friends email me with interest in coming to Seattle thig winter for some snow fun.  I have a three bedroom condo with a guest room, so get in touch if you're interested in making friends and stopping in Seattle for the "Northwest Experience".
NOVEMBER UPDATE:  Ben is now on his way across the continental US - apparently he was attacked by an angry deer at 3 am somewhere in the middle of Montana.  He screeched to a halt to avoid hitting a deer when it's mate reared up on the driver side door and went totally TOMMY BOY on the vehicle.  Poor Benny . . .

Bada BING, Bada BANG!  Used to be a Tercel, now it's a Metro . . .

December 99 ~ It only took a couple of weeks to find my new ride.  She's a sweet little four banger 99 Ranger - my best friend Mike found it for me.  He works down at Tacoma Nissan Subaru, in case you're in the market for good vehicle.  She and I have already gone up into the snow several times - just takes a couple of sandbags and she handles like a pro.  December was a LONG month.  I never want to deal with another y2k in my life!  Work is highly technical, so we were MIRED in preparations and NOTHING frickin happened!  It would have been more rewarding if stuff had exploded and servers had crashed.  Oh well.  On this eve of change, I'm saying goodbye to a challenging / rewarding decade.  Bright eyed and bushy tailed, I'm amped up for a great season of snow.  The new board is waxed and broken in and it's gonna be a great winter.  To the Twentieth Century, all I can say is . . . SEE YA!
