1) Cigarettes were running my life.

2) It costs me wayyyy too much money (3.75 a pack, sheesh!)

3) I (and everything around me) stunk like cigarettes, and I was tired of finding ashes all over everything.

4)My health- I haven't been feeling too great lately, and I know that the cigs were a part of it. Plus, cigs and the birth control pill are a big no-no!

5) I don't even like them anymore!  They're horrible.

6) I hate hiding this nasty habit from my family.

7) I hate the dirty looks I get from non-smokers.

8) I hate to be the one who always has to sneak outside for a cigarette.

9)Standing outside in the middle of January when it is freezing outside just to have a stupid cigarette is ridiculous!

10) Did I mention the money?  3.75 a pack-for crying out loud!!

I am a 20 year old junior at The George Washington University. I major in Criminal Justice. I have been a smoker for about four years now (yech), and I am up to about a pack and a half a day.

 
I decided to quit because I was sick of cigarettes running my life. When I was in class, all I could think about was that next cigarette. When I was at work, all I could think about was that next cigarette. When I was eating, all I could think about was the next cigarette. Cigarettes were running my life. I had no power over them- they had power over me! Well, not anymore, thank you! I am not going to let some silly plant run my life for me!

I had "quit" once before, but I never really took it seriously. The reason I did it was for my boyfriend (a soon-to-be doctor who was constantly nagging me!) and that was the wrong reason to quit. It only lasted about 3 days. This time I am quitting for myself! And there is no better reason than that.
