There is a lot of misinformation about circumcision out there. Here are some of the facts:
Circumcision was introduced to American the late 1800's as a means of stopping masturbation by making the penis insensitive.
According to the AAP, there is no medical justification for circumcision.
Medical research shows that infants feel pain more intensely than adults.
Most parents who have their sons circumcised do so only for cosmetic reasons. This is the same reason African parents give for circumcision their daughters.
It is a felony to circumcise your daughter, or even your pet. But your son is not afforded the same protection.
If a doctor inflicted a tenth of the amount of pain an infant circumcision causes on an adult, s/he would be disbarred immediately.
