Hello and welcome to Arthur's web page.

All about me

I am a professional Video and Colour Television engineer and have been for 30 years.

I am also a volunteer worker for the National Asthma Campaign. I help run the Dumfries Branch of the National Asthma Campaign (Scotland), in my role of branch chairperson, and have done so for the last six years. I am also a Regional Organiser for Southern Scotland, again for the National Asthma Campaign.

Background information.

I have always enjoyed my job as it is ever changing, always new products on the market, but my real interest lie elsewhere, and in these other areas I get a better sense of work/job satisfaction. Work should be fun as well as producing something constructive, not only for the consumer but also for yourself. Today work has become a competition with no real winners, as it takes toll on people's health. You have to have some space and time to do the things you want to do, like create Web pages. It's not easy, but it is fun!

My main interest in asthma comes from the fact that I have a son who is a severe chronic asthmatic. He has had asthma since he was one and a half years old, and is now a teenager (young person). We were asked to form a support group for asthmatic and with some very willing and able volunteers we have run a Branch of the asthma campaign, for the last six years.

Comments

At the present moment in time, in the branch of the Asthma Campaign that I help run as chairman. We are trying to compose a Web page where people can contact us for advice and help, concerning their asthma. Over the six years we have helped many people in a variety of ways.

I do have a lot of other interests, especially Music, Hill walking, Computing, so I have detailed these more in the section called personal interests. My son David who is the asthmatic has his own web page, www.geocities.com/3dshadow and I am sure he would appreciate some contact from out there in Web World. My daughter Tracy would probably like contacts too, she is very much into Ice Hockey, and her web address twww.geocities.com/tracys_ice_palace
