Oregon Coast Trip

We went on a long driving trip down the Oregon Coast this summer. The best part of course, was seeing all the people I care so much about. I'll start with their pictures, then some pictures of our adventures.

We got to spend a day with a friend that spent a few years teaching us pottery before she moved to her new place. She has an incredible house in the Mountains.

We crossed a summit going to Castlegar, and the snow was so high from the week before, Alissa had to climb through the railing to get to the outhouse! The guys had to be happy with the trees for facilities.

Here we are at the view point in Castlegar, with my Uncle Dale and his sweeite Pam. Yup, he looks like a young Gene Hackman :o)

This is my gramma and her sweeie Ed. I had a wonderful visit with her, but again way too short!

campsite in Yakima Washington where we spent the night

This is Mike, Guy and I when we went exploring while we stayed with Mike and Janet.

This one Janet took of me on our hike into Bagbee Hot Springs.

We first caught up with Janet and Mike at Sharon and Larry's place. We had such a great, but way too short, visit.

Guy and Larry in Larry and Sharon's amazing yard. It's full of art work they've done, and wild flower gardens.

Mike and Sharon while we were enjoying their yard.

This is a triumphant Mike after he hiked almost 2 miles into the hotsprings with us. I'm proud of ya Mike!

Chrissy (McGraw's Girl) and Rich (Pegasus) came to Mike and Janet's to visit. We were so busy visiting I forgot to take pictures and they had to send me one!

This is Mike's mom Connie, his nephew Justin, Mike and Janet when we were leaving. Yup, I needed Kleenex.

YEAH!! We made it to California!

I'm standing at the base of a monsterously big redwood tree in California. I felt like a mouse!

a view of the natural briges near Brookings Oregon

The road bridges were inspiring too, so much craftmanship went into them. Here it seems we mostly see bridges of plain steel, or like roads with steel or concrete guard rails.

beautiful sunset we saw from our table at dinner in Goldbeach Oregon

we got to Port Orford at low tide, there were starfish, muscles, and all sorts of wonderful sea life to sea

the views were spectacular, hard to do justice to them with photographs. The fog was rolling in along these cliffs.

this was an incredible sunset we sat on the beach to watch. The perfect end to a warm sunny day of exploring.

Alissa and I had the experience of a lifetime riding on the beach.

we stayed along the Rouge River near Goldbeach, the weather was so nice and warm.

we stopped at every beach we could get too, and they were all so different and beautiful

we also stopped at most of the lighthouses along the way

This lighthouse on the point, was near the sea lion caves. We went down an elevator about 150' inside the actual cave, and there was a hole in the rock where you could also see this lighthouse.

The oregon dunes were spectacular, it seemed they were different every corner we turned.

I climbed this tower, I have the fridge magnet to prove it! I'll explain more about it when I remember how many stairs etc.

this is only a small fragment of the 360 degree view from the top of the tower. You can see the enormous floating bridge that connects Astoria with Washington State.

The wreck of the Peter Iredale in Astoria. Most of this ship was salvaged, but they left a good deal for people to explore.

we took our time and drove the Chuckanut highway in Washington. It's an historical highway, with incredible views, well worth the drive.

Back in Canada and my much loved Rockie Mountains. This is near Revelstoke, the road has many areas where it's hard to see all the way up and all the way to the valley floors.

I had to drive quite a ways into the bush to get to these falls. They're along the Thompson Highway before Rocky Mountain House.

This is Castle Mountain in the Crow's Nest Pass, we came here in Sept. to meet up with my gramma for a visit.

This is the Mountain that gave way and 1/2 of it ended up on the town of Frank. They have an excellent interpretive center, and gorgeous views of the mountains from here.

My gramma's sweetie Ed, met up with us in Hillcrest, at his son Bern and daughter in law, Pat's place. Gorgeous place on the mountain, and they made us so welcome.

Ed at the edge to the left, Guy, Mom, Dad, and Pat around the campfire in the backyard. It was freezing that weekend, so they built a windbreak.

Bern took us on a tour of the plant he works in, then up to the top of a mountain...what a view! Bern's son Sean (took Guy for a ride in his semi while we were there!), Mom, Ed, Dad, me, Alissa & Guy

Pat's 2 year old horse Shilo, he is so smart and he bonded big time with Alissa. He even tried to brush himself, and use the pitchfork to get some hay for himself!

Pat's 25 year old horse Chisholm. He's gorgeous, and doesn't look a day over 5!

The last day we were there, Alissa and Pat took the horses for a walk.
