The year was about 1926. They met at a house party in Riverland, Texas. (A little farm community that no longer exist. They have demolished the town and returned it to pasture land.) Henry and Inez met. He was twenty one years old and she was only eleven. She had came to the party with her older sister Ruth, as a makeshift chaperone. Five years later ,on September 19,1931, the two were married.

On April 16,1932, thier son Ivan Henry Tate was born. Then seventeen months later, on Nov.14,1933, a daughter was born.She was named Josie after her maternal grandmother, and Wynell after the daughter of Inez's best friend Grace.

Henry and Inez with their small family moved to Petrolia Texas, a small oil-well town, near Wichita Falls. There another daughter was born to them,on July 27,1936. Ealtha Fay, named after the radio 'soap opera' star,Altha,("Ma Perkins" show), and Inez's friend, Fay.
