Henry Davenport Nesbitt and Elizabeth Tolbert-1880's

Our first known ancestor

JOHN WILLIAM NESBITT

b- abt-1835; Birth place unknown. It was told to me that he was born in Georgia, but this is uncertain, because so far we haven't found enough information to search records. So all the information here is 'word of mouth and alot of guess-work.' John William married MARTHA MOORE. Using the date of birth of one of thier children, 1858, they were more than likely married , between 1856-58. Only one child is known for certain, but I have just heard that we may have found another, which I will add here until I learn differently;

Children of John William Nesbitt and Martha Moore is;

1/.. Henry Davenport Nesbitt.

He was originally called 'High-Pockets', but shortened to 'Pockets'. I remember him from my childhood, and his very sweet wife, Maude. One of the stories I heard about Pockets when I was a child was this. Those of you who live in Texas know how a storm can suddenly appear out of no where without any warning. Pockets was driving a team of horses home one night when a sudden storm came upon them. Lightening and thunder. Pockets was hit by the lightening, and thrown into a muddy barditch.
