Our Beloved Mother and Grandmother

("Nanie")

This page is dedicated to my Precious Mother, and best friend:

" Mama, each member of my family are like parts of my body, and you are my heart. Thank you for giving me life- A wonderful life, because you were so much a part of it."

Memories

They say memories are golden, well maybe this is true. But we never wanted memories, We only wanted you.

A million times we've needed you. A million times we've cried. If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died.

In life we loved you dearly. In death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a special place, that noone could ever fill.

If tears could build a staircase, and heartaches could build a lane, we'd walk the path to Heaven, and bring you back again.

Our Family-chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again. ~~Author Unknown~~

"Nanie"

Hello!

I am the first grandchild of Willie Inez, and although I was not named after her, I feel a piece of her lives in me as I did in her. This was the case with everyone of her grandchildren and great grandchildren! And all family members and anyone that ever came in contact with this lady.

I am Linda, born of Wynell, her first child and only daughter, and the lady who's homepage you are visiting.

I feel compelled to tell you about this joyous person!! Being born the first grandchild, put the label of "GRANDMA" on such a young woman, at the age of 36. She joked with everyone that she was too young to be called grandma. So I'm not really sure how I began to call her Nanie, but the name stuck. So to all from that day on, all grandchildren born after me, called her Nanie!

I was the luckiest of all the grandchildren I feel, because I spent so much of my earlier years with her. But yet I am sure each and every grandchild of hers feels they too are just as lucky as I am!

My earliest memories are sitting at her vanity and having long talks with her. She would let me explore every draw without one time saying...get out of that...it's mine, or don't you break that! Her house was a treasure cove for me to explore. So full of love and laughter!! And her yards were a childs paradise! There were trees to climb, sour grass to nibble on , strawberries, nectarines and peaches that were out of this world! And in the Fall she had the best tasting pecans one had ever tasted!

As I grew older I began to see her in a different light and although I tested her all the time....her love was always unconditional! She loved me no matter what I ever did, good or bad!

This was with every one of her grandchildren! You could see the love flowing from her when we all got together! And as I look back...there was NEVER any jealousy amongst any of us....for we all knew we were loved in our own way with her! She made each and every one of us feel "SPECIAL" in her eyes! I treasure all my memories of her!

She was a strong willed and VERY honest and out spoken lady! She would tell you what she thought and would leave it up to you to make the right decisions! Never ever condeming you of your choices. She would guide you along with advice both wise and loving. Leaving you to walk your own paths!

I was told once by my youngest daughter,Tracey, who barely knew her before she died, "That never in her life had she met a woman that was so loved and so honest as Nanie was to every soul she came in contact with". I thought about that for a very long time afterwards, and she was so right! I too have never met another person like her! She will surely be loved and missed by everyone that knew her!

For Mom's 75th birthday, my sister Fay & husband Jerry (Davis) took her to Kona, Hawaii. Here she is with greeter. WoW !
