My Background

My Family:
I am married and have two lovely daughters, who have given me 5 marvelous grandchildren.
Three grandsons
(which include one set of identical mirror image twins)
and 2 granddaughters.
In addition, I now have 5 great grandchildren

When my husband and I married
we moved to Gulfport, Ms., where we spent
about 15 years before returning to make
Alabama, once again, our home.

My Hobbies:
I love playing on my computer
and learning so much of this new technology,
that was unheard of when I was growing up.

I love music, especially the oldies.

Some of my favorites are:
Feelings
Gershwin
Phantom
Love Letters
Like A Song
ChooChoo Boogie
Pennies From Heaven

My other hobbies include painting ceramics.
Not "just any ceramics", mind you,
but what my instructor calls "Heirlooms". :-)
I enjoy most painting seasonal pieces and
my favorites are Angels and Santa Clauses

Little Eyes Upon You

There are little eyes upon you
and they're watching night and day.
There are little ears that quickly
take in every word you say.
There are little hands all eager
to do anything you do;
And a little boy who's dreaming
of the day he'll be like you.
You're the little fellow's idol,
you're the wisest of the wise.
In his little mind about you
no suspicions ever rise.
He believes in you devoutly,
holds all you say and do;
He will say and do, in your way
when he's grown up just like you.
There's a wide-eyed little fellow
who believes you're always right;
and his eyes are always opened,
and he watches day and night.
You are setting an example
every day in all you do;
For the little boy who's waiting
to grow up to be like you.

This is a poem that I have kept for many years,
and a prayer that has escaped my lips
many times in the past.
I don't know the name of this verse.

The name is one I have given it,
but it's one that
I am sure all working mothers have
prayed at one time or another.

Working Mother's Prayer

Oh God, it breaks my heart

to leave this small but sheltered place,

To shut the door on motherhood

And wear an eager, business face.

I want so much to stay at home,

But since it cannot be

O Lord, along with daily bread,

Give extra strength to me.

And let the other mothers know

How fortunate are they

Who keep their happy brood in sight

The long and wondrous day.
