About Emu

(an ostrich like bird weighing around 110-140 lbs, and can be 5-6' tall)

Every ounce of the Emu is useable! The meat is a delicious red meat low in calories(97% fat free). Some say its flavor has a likeness to beef! The oil is a non-toxic, anti-bacterial, & anti-inflammatory oil. The leather is a beautiful quilled pattern that is durable and supple. Feathers, Eggs, & Toenails are used in crafts, jewelry, & fashion items.

Meat:
"Red" or "White" meat?
Although ratites (Emu for one) are poultry, the PH of their flesh is similar to beef. Therefore, they are classified as "red" meat. The raw meat is a very dark cherry red. After cooking, the meat looks and tastes similar to beef. The meat is cut in steaks, fillet, medallions(coin shaped pieces), roasts, & ground meat. A 3.5 ounce serving of raw Emu contains approx. 95 calories, 20 grams protein, 1.5 grams fat, & 50 milligrams cholesterol.
100% Pure Oil:
Emu Oil was discovered by Aborigines many thousands of years ago. Well known for its healing, penetrating and anti-inflammatory properties, Emu Oil is suited for cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. Many have testified that with continued use of Emu Oil much improvement from the following were experienced:
arthritis, minor burns, rheumatism, joint pains, cramping, younger looking skin, tendonitis, scar tissue, acne, stiffness, itching, bursitis, insect bites, softens calluses, aches & pains , eczema , cold sores, psoriasis, promotes healing, moisturizer, sore muscles, shingles, dry skin(rash), before & after sun exposure, faster orthopedic recovery. Something this good shouldn't go ignored! Our family loves it! You should try it! Try Emu Oil once and you will depend on it!

Let us know about your experiences with EMU OIL!

Dear Consumer: For years emu farmers have struggled to bring a healthy product to your table. We have a heart healthy red meat that is low in cholesterol, high in iron and vitamins. The problem is getting this meat to you at a competitive price. Beef, pork, chicken and other meat producers are under mandatory USDA inspection. This means that when their product is harvested, the government pays for the meat inspection. Ratites, such as emu, ostrich and rhea, are under a voluntary USDA inspection. This means we must pay for the inspection ourselves, even though the inspection may be required in order to sell the meat. Now, this is a health issue and we farmers welcome the inspection. We just don't welcome the fees that come with it. These inspection costs can add as much as $120 to the overall retail prices of emu. Naturally, the cost is passed on to the consumer. It's even higher for ostrich. Congressman Bennie Thompson will be introducing HR 4828 IH into the 106th Congressional Session. This bill will amend the Poultry Products Inspection Act to cover birds of the order Ratitae used for human consumption. It will make inspection of ratites mandatory. This will help to lower our costs and therefore the prices you consumers will have to pay for emu and ostrich products. Please take 5 minutes to help us! HR 4828 IH is currently in the Ag Committee. We don't want it buried there. Please help us by writing your congressmen and senator. If you don't know your legislators' names and addresses, they can be looked up - and even contacted by just clicking here. http://congress.nw.dc.us/rollcall/elecmail.html Just tell your legislator that you are a consumer. Tell him that you want to see emu and ostrich products available in your local grocery store. Ask him to support HR 4828 IH. Or ask him to co-sponsor the bill. We appreciate any help you can give us. This is an important issue to the ratite industry as a whole. Thank you for your time and help.
