Military Service:
Jacob James Kinnick enlisted Oct 1864, age 18, in Co. H, One Hundred and Forty sixth Regiment of Illinois Volunteers, as a private. During his (months) at the front, he saw arduous service, according to a local history account. He was honorably discharged 8 Jul 1865, age 19, and returned to Bureau County where he farmed for many years.
