Occupation:
Printer
From Don Jackson, grandson of Ira, : " Grandad was a printer all his life. He grew up working with the family newpaper in Franklin, and then worked for the Stromsburg "Headlight", with grandma for many years. He was an avid follower of the horses and was a jockey when he was a young man. I remember many a Saturday afternoon traveling to local horse races in the area. Grandpa was also quite a golfer and his old "mashie", "niblick" and the rest of his wooden shafted clubs survived for many years. I have the putter. Granpa also liked to go fishing for "bullheads" in the local rivers. I got to spend my summers while growing up with Grandpa and Grandma Ready and they had tremendous influence on my and shaped my attitudes and beliefs."
