LONGMONT, Colo., --?Larry Duane Ready, 75, of Longmont, Colo., died Sunday (June 3, 2007) at Longmont United Hospital following a brief illness.

Larry was born Jan. 21, 1932, on the family farm near Hayes Center to Lawrence Lovejoy Ready and Margaret Ellen (Burkert) Ready.

After graduating from high school in 1949, Larry enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. Upon his discharge, he returned to Nebraska to work with his father on the farm. In the early 1950s, he began his career as an air traffic controller in Great Falls, Mont.

On April 7, 1962, Larry married Nellie Bernice Fulbright in Fort Benton, Mont.

He worked for many years in his profession as an air traffic controller, moving to Longmont in 1969 and retiring from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1976. He also owned and operated Longmont Vending for over 25 years.

Mr. Ready was a lifelong learner and an avid collector. He enjoyed traveling the western antiquity and gun show circuit. He was also a member of the Longmont American Legion Post 32, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2601, a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose No.1548, and a former member of the BPO Elks No.1055.

Larry is survived by his wife, Nellie Ready of Longmont; two sons, Shane Ready of Longmont, his sons, Michael and Zackery, and Duane Ready of Denver, Colo.; and two daughters, Mitzi Ready Loukkula of Astoria, Ore., her son, Jacob, and Dynette Prazma of Boulder, Colo. and her children, Brandon and wife, Katie, and Brittney.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John, Clay and Newman; and a sister, Kathryn.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, at Howe Mortuary with the Rev. James Johnston officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary, Longmont.
