The Easy Way!?

Okay I have noticed this theme running rampant on the list lately from pre-ops.

Trust me -- this surgery is NOT the easy way out. You have to work at it. You have to CHANGE the way you eat, the way you deal with food, and the way you deal with life in general. You have to commit to a life long change. You have to realize that you may not be able to eat anything with sugar again. You have to realize that people are going to treat you differently than they are now. YOu have to realize that your first few days will most likely be spent in pain. That you won't be able to bend or lift for a few weeks. That you will have to live on a liquid diet for some time then gradually reintroduce food. You have to realize that you will have a scar along your tummy that may or may not fade, that you are risking going bald at least temporarily, dealing with diarrhea and constipation. You have to understand that food will cease to be your focus but it will take you time to learn how to not let it be your focus. You have to realize that you will be going through emotional and mental changes not just physical. You have to prepare yourself for FOREVER not just a short time diet fix. You have to realize that when food isn't there life will be and you have to deal with it which you may or may not have done before. You have to realize that you may still be the same person inside but everyone else will see a different person outside.

Easy? Redoing your ENTIRE life, your entire self is not easy. But ask yourself if its worth it.

Don't let other people say you are taking the easy way out unless they know what it is like to redesign every portion of their life. Unless they have rebuilt themselves from the inside out. Yes the weight can come off quicklywith this surgery. But that is such a small portion of what this surgery can cause to happen that everything else can become much more difficult.

So easy? No. Worth it? Only you can decide. But I ask myself every day and say YES it is worth it for me!
