Twister fits neatly into the SOFTIMAGER|3D v3.8 workflow, providing an interactive toolset which complements and extends the functionality of Softimage|3D. ¡° ³nÅé¯S¦â»P¥\¯à¡G (1) Interactive Rendering¡G Twister turns rendering into a truly interactive process, allowing artists to render directly in the 3D view, at any resolution and dimension required. Rather than constantly previewing a scene to see how parameter changes affect the final render, users can select regions of a scene directly in the viewer and interactively see the rendered update. The entirety of rendering effects, including motion blur and shadow mapping, can be viewed and modified interactively. With Twister , rendering is treated as a selective viewing mode, which can be scaled according to the number of processors available locally or on a network. (2) Next-Generation Photorealism¡G Twister fully integrates the next generation of mental ray (v2.0), a powerful and innovative renderer that will set new standards for quality and workflow. In addition to significant -ly improved performance, mental ray offers a host of new features such as depth-map shadows, scanline motion-blur, and polygon displacement, as well as support for caustics, allowing the renderer to accurately calculate and render the light diffusion around a scene. (3) Plug-and-Play Visual Effects¡G Twister introduces Phenomena, an innovative new shader structure that encapsulates multiple cooperating shaders to create a single , complex visual effect. Phenomena allow users to easily create advanced shading effects, such as candle flames or smoke, simply dragging and dropping presets onto objects. To further extend Phenomena, Twister includes the RenderTree editor, which allows precise control of connections between Phenomena, as well as the application of rendering ¡¥nodes¡¦ ¡V functional modules such as 2D & 3D textures, pattern generators, mixers, and expressions ¡V between them. With the RenderTree, an almost infinite variety of effect combinations can be created. An extensive library of Phenomena, nodes, and presets is also included with the system. (4) Multi-pass output¡G Twister supports render pass definition at the scene level, allowing multiple camera passes to be rendered at different resolutions, duration or output format. This provides generation of shadow, matte, reflection or custom passes at render time, and permits greater efficiency for jobs that require modifications at the last minute.
