Wilbur Hot Springs near Clear Lake

A view of the bath house and pool area with the old stage coach hotel in the background.

You'll find this tub out in the middle of a beautiful pasture surrounded by rolling hills and trees. It's a short hike from the hotel but well worth it. The water is piped straight from the source; a geyser that boils up every 45 minutes.

Buzz contemplating life while watching the geyser bubble up...speaking of bubble

Comments: We give Wilbur high marks because the water is probably the strongest mineral water you will find anywhere. It looks almost like fluorescent antifreeze fluid in the sunlight...and the smell of sulfur is very strong. There are trace amounts of lithium in the water which people claim give you vivid dreams at night, while others believe it's the reason they feel totally relaxed and at peace after soaking in the waters a few hours. There are three large rectangular soaking tubs in the bath house with varing temperatures. There is an outdoor cement soaking tub next to the pool that is great. The swimming pool is kept at a comfortable temperature with fresh spring water. Whatever the reason, Wilbur is definitely special. The old stage coach hotel has been remodeled. There is no electricity, solar power provides what little electricity is needed for lighting at night; so leave that blow dryer at home. The kitchen is probably one of the greatest parts about Wilbur. You have to cook all your own food, unless you want to drive 22 miles. The kitchen is huge and very functional with everything you could possibly need, just remember to bring food to cook. Refrigerators are provided.

Wilbur is a place you go to get away from it all, relax, soak in the waters, read, and eat...

This site is still under construction...and will be changing very soon...
