May 11th, day 126: ALMOST DONE!

Well, here I sit in the Newark, New Jersey airport, my favorite place in the world... Ya, sure! Last night was pretty crazy. My friends had a going-away party for me. It was pretty cool, lots of people showed up to say their goodbyes. It's amazing how close I got to so many people in such a short time.

While it was nice to see my friends before leaving, the problem was that I had to leave my house at 6am for the airport the next morning. To make matters worse, I went to the party without doing any packing at all! That means I had to leave the party, pack and get on the plane! I was running around like a head with it's chicken cut off, so I had no time to pack! I had so much stuff I have no idea how it all fit in my suitcases. Since I had that on my mind, I left my party early. But it's ok, I was happy knowing that everyone else had a good time. Even after I left, God knows how long the party went on for!

My friend Adrsubal from Columbia came over and helped me pack. Ok fine, he did almost all the packing while I was falling asleep. That was pretty cool. So we actually get to the airport on time. But of course, something has to go wrong. They tell me that they know nothing about me flying out on this day?!?!! I call my travel agent at home, and she tells me I'm booked?!?! Luckily there was space on the plane and they sent me off to New Jeresy. But they said that from NJ, there is no guarantee I'll get to Montreal!!!

Well, in the time while I was in the air from Mexico to NJ, it seems everything got sorted out, and I now exist in their little computers. I feel so fulfilled, like I know have a life and am worth something because my name is in their damn computers and someone will finally listen to me!

Anyway, my fight landed early, so i have even MORE time to waste here. What the heck am supposed to do for over 6 hours?!?! I left my house at 6 am, and will arrive in Montreal at 10:30, only to leave for London where I should arrive at 8am... That's 26 hours of travel!!!!!

I guess this is a good time to sit and reflect on my experience. Of course it was really fun, and I learned so much and made a lot of good friends that treated me very well. I just can't belive it's over. It seems like it went by really fast. Leaving Mexico was a strange mix of emotions. On the one hand I missed home. On the other hand, I felt like I was leaving my OTHER home, a place that treated me very well. I feel like I want to stay and I want to go at the same time. I like the life in Mexico, but I have so much back home. It's too bad I can't just pick up everything that is important to me and move it to Mexico! How nice that would be...

Right now, I have left Mexico, but I haven't arrived back in Montreal yet, so I'm kinda confused. It feels like the past 5 months were a dream... Like tomorrow, when I wake up in my own bed again, it'll feel like Mexico never happened....

In case anyone is wondering why I didn't called them all weekend, it's because the second I land, I leave for London, Ontario. So it's like I really haven't come home yet.... When I get back from London, it'll feel like I am back...

So...To all my friends that wrote me regularly, checked this site and kept in touch - thanks, I really appreciated it. It felt good to know I wasn't forgotten back home. It was nice to know that whatever happens, I have a lot back home.

And on that note, that brings this website to an end. I hope you guys enjoyed reading this site as much as I did writing it.

May 10th, day 125: ALMOST DONE!

I just finished up my finals and all went well! Now I have to stop and think what I am going to do with myself now that school is over. I think it's time to come home soon...We'll see...

May 4th, day 119: BACK IN THE CITY

Wow. It's been a while since the last update! Well, I have a good excuse, I've been all over the place. I spent a week in Acapulco, then another week in Guadalajara. OK where do I start? The beginning I guess..

Acapulco was really cool, as usual. I spent most of it relaxing, and taking some sun. I've come to realize that I can no longer get a tan. Either I have reached my darkest possible point, or I'm immune to the sun. I went wakeboarding, which for those of you that don't know, is a cross between water-skiing and snowboarding. That was pretty fun.

Acapulco was sooo packed, for the Mexican Spring Break, probably twice the people as during Canadian and American Spring Breaks. Since there were way too many people we spent a lot of time out in Coyuca, about half an hour out of Acapulco. Its much quieter and much cleaner out there, but there is nothing around there at all.

We had a bad experience in a taxi in Acapulco. To make a long story short, we took a "safe" taxi - the ones that charge double, but are supposed to be safer for you. the taxi driver pulled out a knife and a gun on us. I thought he was joking, but my friend didn't find it so funny. He jumped out of the cab and flagged down a cop that happened to be passing by. Wer told the cops what happened, but the cops didnt seem to care... They just said ok, good night, and left us there! We were ok, the taxi guy just left, but it was pretty crazy. Acapulco is supposed to be safe!

On the way back, we stopped for food. My friend and I ordered the same food, but for some reason, bees attacked him, but not me? I went and finished my food in the car, wondering why they didn't bother me. Well, about a 20 minutes later, as i took the last sip of my Coke, guess what I got? Yup, a bee in my mouth! How gross is that!??! And no, they don't taste anything like honey!

After returning home from Acapulco, I stayed in Mexico for a short time, and the next thing I knew I was off to Guadalajara. Once again, we had quite the adventure. We ran out of gas on the highway, and that turned into a rock-throwing game on the side of the highway! It was actually pretty fun. Also, we had car trouble and we couldn't leave Guadalajara! It seems like I was always get myself into some kind of crazy adventure, but I always have fun!
