You are a doula
You are assisting at someone else's birth.
If you must take the lead, lead so that
the mother is helped, yet still free and in charge.
Do good without show or fuss.
Facilitate what is happening, rather than
what you think ought to be happening.
When the baby is born, the mother will rightly say,
"We did it ourselves."

Easter with the Brenners! |
Lisette Brenner is a trained labor support professional with
DECI. (Doulas of East Central Indiana) She is married to
Steven and together they have five children -- Jessica (age 8), Elyse (age 6), Sarah Kate (age 4), Bobby (age 2), and Grace (born at home on 5/11/99).
Lisette attended college at the University of New York at Binghamton before moving to Indiana to raise her children. She plans on continuing her education at Indiana University at Kokomo and eventually becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife. (As soon as
things begin to slow down at home!) She enjoys being a doula
because she knows how important the birth of a child is. She
wants to help the couple have a safe and satisfying birth
experience.
