Good nutrition is a cornerstone of good healthy living. Eating a variety of different foods each day is a good example to follow. There are a number of "food pyramids" which include the basic essentials in each food group to incorporate into your diet. What is important is that you a somewhat balanced diet which includes all major food groups and be sure to include a snack or two of fruit, yogurt or rice cakes to insure your blood sugar remains constant.

There are certain foods that can SLIM you down. These foods are very low in fat and calories and can help you lose weight due to their high fiber or detox-ifiying properties:

  • Asparagus (great source of iron also)
  • Sweet Potatoes (high in beta carotene, potassium and iron)
  • Cabbage (has sulfur and chlorine to slow metabolism)
  • Raspberries (high in Vitamin C)
  • Kiwi (high in Vitamin C)
  • Lemons and Limes (help stimulate the digestive process)
  • Shrimp (low in calories and high source of protein)
  • Leafy Greens (high in fiber which slows digestion)
