DStarCatcher: Good morning and welcome D'Squirrely Fairy! Oh my how pretty you look, your
wings sparkle so! Is that new Fairy Dust I see on them?? And you absolutely MUST tell me where
you got that lovely gown..*standing back to see it flow around*.. Please, have a seat next to me.
.under the pink spotlight so we can see you better! Please...*handing her a cup of
Spirit Tea*.. have some Spirit Tea and help yourself to the Alspiritaes...
And please don't be nervous.....you are among friends......*grinz*
D'Squirrely Fairy: (Sits down, wiggles around for a moment, pulls her tail out from under her gown.) Whew! Sorry! Didn't sit down quite right! Anyhow...thank you so much for inviting me, DStarCatcher. I'm thrilled to be here. You look wonderful, your Self!
DStarCatcher: Thank you very much! *looking down at notes* Oh please..do tell us how did you feel winning Fairy of the week? Were you terribly surprised?
D'Squirrely Fairy: Oh my, yes! I got up and opened my email first thing in the morning, as usual, and there was a note from DFairy Star telling me I'd won. I thought I was dreaming, or there must have been a mistake!
DStarCatcher:*stirring my tea* What do you love most about being a Fairy?
D'Squirrely Fairy: For me the best part is getting out and spreading cheer around DPets team with others who like having fun, too. We are such a bunch of silly creatures, we Fairies...it definitely brings a lot of smiles.
DStarCatcher:Would you describe what you look like... as a Fairy?
D'Squirrely Fairy: Well...hmmmmm...I'm about 18 inches long from nose to tail and weight just under two pounds. (I'm really pretty small for a fox squirrel.) My fur is very glossy and tan ticked with black, my tummy is orange. I have a white spot on my chest, and I guess I should also say that I'm missing my left ear (I lost it when I was really sick as a baby.) But my tail is big and oh-so-gloriously bushy! My mom says that I'm the prettiest squirrel in the neighborhood and since she sees most all of them up close every day I have to believe her. When I'm flitting about for The Site Fights I wear this really neat pair of iridescent wings. They match my Fairy dust and boy, can I get around with 'em...I'm truly a flying squirrel then!
DStarCatcher:Tell us the importance of the Fairies in TSF.
D'Squirrely Fairy: Oh, the Fairies play a Most Important Role at The Site Fights! We are the cheerleaders and our job is to make sure that all the fighters have fun while they are competing. After all, the main purpose of The Site Fights is to have fun and make friends, and who better to keep things lively than a Fairy?
DStarCatcher:Should you have to leave TSF...what would you miss the most?
D'Squirrely Fairy: That's a tough question. (Scratches her nose, takes a sip of tea, thinks for a long moment.) I think that I would miss the comradery most of all. It's just not possible to have a bad day when you can spread some fairy dust and cheer, and of course that all comes back when you need it, too. This is perhaps the most wonderful group of people I've ever been around. Some real big hearts, ya know?
DStarCatcher:*refreshing tea cups* Tell us all about yourself..in great detail...
D'Squirrely Fairy: Tell you about me? In great detail? You sure you want to know this stuff? (laughter) Well, first of all, I simply adore having fun. Playing around and being silly is what it's all about for squirrels, don'tcha know? One of my favorite things to do is make a mad dash onto the top of my cage and then head for the top of the china cabinet to play with all my cat toys. My mom has fits 'cause then I'm almost up at the ceiling, and she has to climb on a chair to get me down. Another fun thing is to race around my playroom (you know I have my own big room, yes?) and pretend to attack my Woobie. Woobie is a fleecy stuffed dog toy my mom bought me when I was little, and now that I'm almost as big as Woobie it's great fun to wrestle with it. I probably shouldn't say this, but sometimes I get so carried away we both fall off the bed onto the floor! When I'm feeling really, really silly, I run up and down and around my mom as if she's a tree.
*holding sides and laughing at picture*
I do have a soft side, though. While I love to be with and play with my mom more than anything, my other favoritest thing is to just cuddle with her. Especially when I first wake up and she's there...she will hold me and pet me for as long as I want most mornings. We share kisses and snuggles, and at bedtime, I like for Mom to tuck me in and kiss me goodnight. Sometimes, while I'm waiting for Mom to get ready for bed, I burrow underneath the towel in my cage. That's when Mom calls me "Prairie Squirrel" and we sorta play hide and go seek until she scoops me up and puts me up into my hammock for the night.
My favorite things to eat are walnuts and fresh fruit. Mom is really good about sharing with me, she even gives me some of her fruit smoothie every evening...yummy!
My mom says I'm her best friend. She certainly loves animals; I have to put up with five cats and a big dog in the house - can you believe it? She got her state wildlife rehabilitation permit because of me so now she cares for all kinds of wild animals, too. (But squirrels are her favorite!) She goes to work every day for a global information technology provider and is also a practicing professional astrologer. Web design and graphics are something else she does, and you know, that's kinda how I got my job as a Fairy. Mom used to be Fairy Isis with DQueen's Pharoahs and when they left, I told her I was big enough insisted I could help...so she joined DPets team and here I am!
DStarCatcher: And we are so glad you came too!*grinz*
Oh, one more thing. I just realized that some people might be wondering why I'm here at all. You know, not outside running around with my squirrel parents and cousins and such? Well, I'll share with you my Very Biggest Secret...ready? (leans close to DStarCatcher with a very serious expression, and begins to speak in a whisper) The secret is that I'm A Very Special Soul. Different, I guess most would say. The day my mom found me I simply knew I belonged with her and wasn't ever going to go anywhere else. Oh, she did her best to raise me to be wild, really; she's so great and worked so hard at it, but you see, the thing is I was never really "wild" to begin with. And my poor mom just didn't understand this for the longest time. But it happens sometimes. Not very often, but there are rare wild ones (like me) who have lessons to teach the humans and we find our way to those who are ready for them. Now, this is probably the biggest secret in all of nature, so please keep it between us, ok? (winks)
DStarCatcher:Oh yes, *leaning forward in chair* I will keep your secret! *crossing my heart* Now...*sitting upright once more* ..In your own words, what is the Spirit of the Sitefights and how has it influenced your life as a Fairy?
D'Squirrely Fairy: To me, the Spirit of The Site Fights is truly "fun and friendship". You know how light Fairies are anyway, but DSpirit has made me even lighter and because of it, I can fly farther than ever before.
DStarCatcher:Any advice or words of encouragement you can offer to the fighters?
D'Squirrely Fairy: Just to relax and have fun. It's not all about winning, it's about competing - fairly and squarely. Take the opportunity to get to know other fighters who share your interests; visit their sites, sign their guestbooks. Work on your own site to make it the best it can be, shout lots of Spirit Shouts, put up a Spirit Page...it's a great chance to get exposure for your site and to make lots and lots of new friends.
DStarCatcher:Do you believe in Fairies?
FD'Squirrely Fairy: (looks at DStarCatcher with a bit of surprise) I believe, therefore I am. I am, therefore I believe!
DStarCatcher:Any dreams of one day becoming a Lady??
D'Squirrely Fairy: To be honest, my mom was once asked but that's a Very Big Responsibility and there's just not enough time to do it justice so she declined. We're very happy with just flitting around and leave sparkly dust and pawprints all over the place!
DStarCatcher:I want to thank you so much, D'Squirrely Fairy, for taking time from your busy schedule to visit with us today and I hope you enjoyed this chat as much as I did. *leaning over to give a Huge Spirit Hug being very careful not to crush those lovely wings!*
Before you leave, I would like to present to you this gift...*reaching behind my chair* ..It's just my way of saying "Thank you!" *grinz leaning over for a Spirit Hug too*
D'Squirrely Fairy: A whole basket of acorns?! Oh...DStarCatcher, you are SO sweet! (gives DStarCatcher a big hug) Thank you! And thank you so much for inviting me to visit. I've enjoyed our little chat very much! Go DPets Go!
