We came into this world as God dressed us and we will leave this life in the same manner. Originally, the purpose of clothing was to protect us from the elements. Clothing creates restriction from freedom of movement and, in these times, creates social barriers. Clothing also restricts the skin's ability to breathe properly.
How often have YOU been judged by the clothing you wear? Have you not been made to feel that without the "right" clothing, or the "right taste" in clothing, you have been denied entry into certain social situations?
The majority of us have been taught since early childhood that we must keep our bodies covered. We were made to feel that being natural was "unclean" and that there must be an ugliness about our bodies, since they weren't to be exposed. As we grew older, we were taught that nudity was associated with SEX! Could that be because so many of those who have gone before us were unclothed ONLY to bathe or make love?
One who is a social NATURIST, or NUDIST, has no problem being accepted by others. There are no status symbols with un-adorned bodies. In a social setting, naturists of all ages have no sexual connotations to be concerned about with the "sensuous" attire of others, wherein, a clothed setting too often makes those concerns very real. In a naturist social setting each person is accepted for him/herself.
Entire families participate in Naturist social settings, as the majority of Naturist or Nudist groups are family oriented. Naturism or, if you prefer, nudism, is quickly becoming a way of life for thousands of families around the world.
Twenty Nine states and two Canadian Provinces are currently represented online in the Naturist Network. The Naturist Society lists seventy nine parks and resorts in twenty six states and sixteen in six Canadian Provinces.
The American
Association for Nude Recreation (formerly, the American Sunbathing
Association) boasts seven Regional Groups representing forty nine states
and the four Western provinces of Canada.
