The Self-Healing Cookbook
A Macrobiotic Primer for Healing Body, Mind and Moods With Whole, Natural Foods
By: Kristina Turner

This is without a doubt one of my favorite references on the subject of self-healing using natural, whole foods. It was given to me when I started my journey into Macrobiotics and I found it a delight to read and to be so much more than a cookbook. The Self-Healing Cookbook is a friendly, encouraging and inspirational collection of recipes, and helpful hints for the kitchen and beyond. This is a cookbook that actually makes good bedtime reading! It is an entertaining primer that integrates macrobioti cs, psychology, modern nutrition and a planetary view of healing.

In her book, Kristina Turner describes the basics on how to get back to traditional meal planning in harmony with nature and the earth itself. She discusses how to get in touch with our bodies, how to listen to potential warning signals and how to choose foods that will sooth or suit the symptom.

It includes over 130 low-fat, natural food recipes, everything from:

  • Black Bean Soup to Rice Wedding Salad
  • Sesame Smother to Millet Burgers
  • Apricot Mousse to Strawberry Pie

It is immensely practical for busy moms, dads (and choosy kids!) who want a delicious way to grow healthy together. It’s an invaluable reference for people recovering from illness with many self-help charts and self-healing exercises.

Its the perfect gift for the doctor who wonders if food really does matter, the weekend gourmet who dabbles in vegetarian fare, or that special friend who wants or needs to be lovingly humored towards a more fulfilling, natural lifestyle.
