Survey Results – HD Association (Christchurch) March 2002

The committee of the HD Association Canterbury wishes to determine whether its member’s needs are met satisfactory.  An 11 question survey was sent to 83 members including family members, people ‘at risk’ and resthomes/hospitals.  Results re summarised as follows:

We had a 42% survey return rate.  Of this 452%, all members received notices of meetings and events from the Christchurch Association as well as the National Newsletter.  60% received information, support and advice from the Field Worker and 54% received additional information from other sources (Neurological Foundation, Internet, videos, library books, conferences etc.).  93% found the information they received helpful and 89% felt the service offered by the Association met their needs.  We wanted to determine in advance what the interest in a film evening would be as a fundraiser, with 64% indicating support in this regard.

We asked whether group meetings and/or social events were of interest.  8 out of 35 people indicated the need for these to be arranged.  Our survey provided the opportunity for additional comments, which we have been able to follow up on an individual basis.

Overall, the feedback received was positive regarding the information and service we provide.  More specific details of our survey results are available should readers be interested.
