DCCV is an independent patients´ association (a registered charity with about 11,000 members) providing support, reassurance and practical information to individuals with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). A useful telephone helpline is available and the association publishes a quarterly magazine called "Der Bauchredner" containing news and views, correspondence and articles on social aspects, employment, therapies and clinical studies. Recently, the association established a foundation to raise funds and promote medical research in the field of IBD.
