Primary Causes of Flatten Villi

If someone on a gluten free diet for celiac disease continues to have flatten villi after a long period of treatment, these other causes should be considered as possible additional causes for flattened villi.

The following is list of primarily causes of flatten villi which I found in a book titled Coeliac Disease, written by W T Cooke and G K Holmes, published by Churchill Livingstone, Medical Division of Longman Group Limited in 1984. I posted this list to the Celiac Listserv on October 20, 1997. I noticed that someone else added it to their website, so why not post it to my own site as well. Please note that some of these only rarely cause flat villi and are usually found in conjunction with Coeliac Disease or Immunodeciencies according to this book:
