During the pupa stage the monarch butterflies larva splits and its exoskeleton and wiggles emerges out of the larva. The cremaster appears as the skin moves far enough down the body. The cremaster is a spiny appendage at the end of the abdomen. The monarch hooks its cremaster into silk pad spun by the larva just before population. This hanging will continue from this until it emerges as an adult. Then the freshy exposed pupa is very soft and delicate until it hardens. This stage one can see clearly the body parts of the animal, such as the wings, abdomen,
