This is my Journey Through Depression. Please take time
to read and understand what others such as
I have to live, and go through everyday
of our entire life. What you people don't
know is how we feel deep within ourselves.
Take time to talk, listen and learn what
depression is all about and maybe the world
will be better for it. It only takes
understanding, compassion, and all of the trust and
love you can provide.

WITHIN THE SHADOWS

One night a man had a dream. He
dreamed he was walking along the beach with
the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from
his life. For each scene, he noticed two
sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed
before him, he looked back at the footprints
in the sand. He noticed that many times
along the path of his life there was
only one set of footprints. He also noticed
that it happened at the very lowest and
saddest times in his life. This really bothered
him and he questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided to
follow you, you'd walk with me all the
way. But I have noticed that during the
most troublesome times in my life, there is
only one set of footprints. I don't understand
why when I needed you most you would
leave me." The Lord replied, "My son, My
precious child, I love you and I would
never leave you. During your times of trial
and suffering, when you see only one set
of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

THE PATH

I begin with a very long path that
is wide at the bottom and develops into
a narrow width and disappears over a knoll.
What is on the other side of the
knoll for the time being is still a
mystery. As I travel this path, one obstacle
after another seems to come at me from
places that I can't see until I have
arrived at my destination.

Life in the beginning is very lonesome, and
I was a child who had to work at
helping my parents with the chores, as they
worked from dawn to dusk, in the fields.
My parents worked very hard to share grow
a crop of tobacco while I went to
school. The path at that time was not
as rough as it could be, considering all
of the challenges I would encounter even further
into my life. I Love my parents, who
will be celebrating their 60th. Wedding Anniversary in
another two years.
