I'm originally from Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines and currently residing now in Chesapeake,Virginia,USA. I'm a Registered Nurse working at Chesapeake General Hospital , Intensive Care Unit 2, in Chesapeake,Virginia.

This all started back in September of 83.Jeez , it seems like only yesterday. Back then , there was a nursing shortage in the US.Nursing recruiters from the US were actively recruiting nurses from the Philippines to fill in the vacant hospital positions they badly need.It drew some attention making nursing popular and attractive to everyone. Soon we find a substantial increase in the number of nursing enrollees nationwide. I was one of the hundred of Cebuanos who worked at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City.My wife, Jocelyn, also a Registered Nurse, was a year ahead of me in the same hospital. She worked at the Renal Transplant Unit, while I worked in Orthopedics.

We lived in a subsidized hospital apartment in Manhattan for three years. Later on, we bought a house in Maplewood,New Jersey, in July of 86.Inspite of that, we were still contemplating of moving to another state where we could raise our two kids, Jiza and Egan. After weighing the pros and cons, six years later we relocated to Chesapeake,Virginia. The slow-paced life , less crowded and more conservative, were some of the factors influencing our decision. A decision we cherished up until now.
